What is your suggestion?
My suggestion is to add sound effects for the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) for aircraft that are parked and undergoing ground handling.
In reality, an aircraft standing on the apron with the APU running produces a distinctive high-pitched whistling sound โ steady, sharp, and clearly noticeable in the surrounding environment.
How would it work in the game?
When an aircraft is at a parking stand (gate or remote stand) and is undergoing ground services (boarding/deboarding, refueling, etc.), the APU sound would automatically play.
This sound can be implemented as a constant background whine, audible within a certain distance from the aircraft.
The effect can be tied to the aircraftโs state โ for example, when the main engines are off but the aircraft is still active and being serviced. After ground handling is completed or when the engines are started, the APU sound would gradually fade out.
Why is this a good idea?
This would add an extra layer of realism and atmosphere to the game.
The APU sound is an essential part of airport life, especially on the apron, and its presence would make the environment feel more alive and authentic.
Additionally, it would improve the overall soundscape, as the airport environment can currently feel somewhat quiet and does not fully convey the sense of a real, active apron.
