Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport is a large international airport in eastern India that handles both domestic and international flights. It serves as an important aviation hub for eastern and northeastern India and features two parallel asphalt runways. The airport regularly handles wide-body aircraft such as the BOEING B747, BOEING B777, BOEING B787 Dreamliner, and AIRBUS A350. Its passenger traffic is around 20โ€“25 million PAX/Year.

:vertical_traffic_light: Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport would be a great addition to World of Airports because it brings a balanced mix of heavy domestic traffic, growing international connectivity, and strong regional importance for eastern India. With around 20โ€“25 million PAX/year, it already operates at a busy real-world level that can translate into engaging gameplay scenarios.

What makes it especially interesting is its two parallel asphalt runways, which allow independent simultaneous operations and create a naturally high traffic flow environment. This would make the airport feel more active and challenging to manage compared to single-runway airports. Combined with regular operations of aircraft like the BOEING B747, BOEING B777, BOEING B787 Dreamliner, and AIRBUS A350, it offers both variety and realism for long-haul and medium-haul traffic in gameplay.

On the international side, it is connected by carriers such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Malaysia Airlines, and flydubai.

The airport mainly operates high-frequency domestic routes to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Guwahati, along with international connections to major hubs in the Middle East and Southeast Asia such as Dubai, Doha, Singapore, Bangkok, and Kuala Lumpur, making it a strong regional and international connector.

:world_map: Unique Features or Challenges
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport has a unique mix of operational characteristics due to its location, weather, and traffic patterns. One of its key features is its two parallel asphalt runways, which support efficient handling of heavy traffic and improve operational flow during peak hours.

However, the airport also faces challenges such as monsoon weather conditions, including heavy rain and thunderstorms, which can affect visibility and flight schedules. Being close to sea level and surrounded by dense urban development also limits major expansion possibilities. Despite these challenges, it remains one of the most important and busiest airports in eastern India.

Itโ€™s a cool airport but maybe it will be too near to CNN

I know it will be too near to CNN but look at Europe also, itโ€™s congested. So why not in Asia? Also India is one of the major hubs of aviation. So, I would say, let it be.

Definitely not too near. BOM was mentioned that it could be too near but itโ€™s nearly 4 times the distance between LHR and BRI from CNN. What really matters is if thereโ€™s some change in the airport or the local liveryโ€™s. It makes no sense to add an airport which is a copy paste in every way but location to another. Calcutta has a more interesting layout imo than the likes of Bengalaru but Iโ€™m still going to put my hat forwards for Mumbai haha.

Itโ€™s your choice whom to vote. But I also support Mumbai since it is a very busy major international airport with one runway.
