General Pre-Release Discussion

Uh yeah how about the news on the lizard event?

That has nothing to do with the next playable airport apparently

Although I do think an airport in Canada would be cool I would put my money on ANC right now…

Blessed are the ones who expect nothing, they are never disappointed :face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:.

Yes, the long waited 747-400m is then possible.

I don’t think the 2010 cutoff will be scrapped all at once in a single future release; I expect it to remain in place for years while liveries are added that are still in service today or were retired in 2010 or later. And there are still plenty of such liveries left. We also shouldn’t forget about planned renovations, new airports, and potential aircraft model refinements—all of which will likely appear gradually in future releases alongside the liveries the developers prioritize

But in future possible scenary, the supply of priority liveries for future releases might run out. That depends on how the size of the development team changes over time. I recall posts from the spring mentioning that one or two people had joined the team—I don’t remember the exact number. So, once the current liveries and those retired recently are exhausted, the developers will face a choice regarding future releases:

Option 1: Add more airports more frequently. There are thousands of airports worldwide, so this could go on indefinitely—long enough for multiple generations of developers to come and go

Option 2: Add liveries that were retired before 2010. Only 18 airports have been released since the game launched, whereas hundreds of liveries have been added—even though many suggestions from the dedicated section haven’t made the cut yet. I conclude that creating a single livery (including the aircraft model itself) takes less time than creating an airport. Consequently, the 2010 cutoff could slowly and gradually be pushed further back in time

Option 3: Focus on reworking the models. Of course, it’s impossible for me to accurately gauge the workload from the outside, but I assume this would take less time than adding all the old liveries—of which there are a great many. And then they will have to move on to options 1 and 2

Option 4: revamp the playable and general airports. This is likely the least labor-intensive task. However, if the focus remains solely on this, one would eventually run out of things to do until new software solutions become available. And then they will have to move on to options 1 and 2

To sum up, I predict that in future releases—once the priority liveries are exhausted—the developers will implement a combination of these four types of additions, much as they do now. Consequently, the 2010 cutoff date will slowly shift backward along the timeline after remaining static for years; right now, there are few old liveries, so it makes sense to include them as one-off arrivals while the full set of new liveries is still being rolled out—which is exactly what we are seeing. Because later, as old liveries are added in greater numbers, it will be easier and more appropriate to change the status of standard liveries (those not tied to specific championships or anniversaries) from “one-off arrivals” to “regular contracts.”

If I’ve misjudged the workload involved in creating these additions, or if the developers have a different plan for future releases, they are certainly free to correct me—or confirm whether I was right—whenever they see fit. Alternatively, they might—silently or otherwise—take some of my comments as suggestions or hints for preparing future releases

I woke up to 43 notifications in this thread, and I thought a new update had been announced or the new airport was revealed or something along those lines:sweat_smile:

As far as I can tell—if I’m guessing correctly based on what I’m seeing—work on the 19th airport for the upcoming release isn’t finished yet, but they’ve already started modeling the 20th

I guess we going Canada

I mean they did say they work on multiple airports at once

I heard as early as last autumn about three or four airports being modeled simultaneously—if I’m not mistaken—back when Kannur, Hong Kong, and Zurich weren’t yet in the releases. I don’t remember the later massages. All could change some times

I was thinking of Icelandic Air for they had a aurora livery

And FINALLY we get the hints back!!!

If Calgary is picked i wont complain!! It is a decent airport that is a similar size to zurich and sydney. With roughly 100ish stands

I’m not going to complain too, since nine airlines are based there—eight of which aren’t based at any of the other 18 managed airports in game. True, Air Canada doesn’t operate the B744 in regular contracts (even though carriers from many other countries do), but that’s because they retired the type back in 2004, i. e. before 2010. However, I think that will likely change over time; looking at my projected long-term releases scenary, older models—which are currently either missing or very scarce—will be added and their numbers increased.

Checking from Heathrow, I saw that Calgary accommodates up to Size F aircraft, so the maximum stand sizes aren’t like those at Bari.

P.S. There are no scheduled Air Transat contracts from Heathrow to Calgary, though they are is from New Orleans; I haven’t checked the other airports

I would say you are probably right tho.

Until I read your message, I hadn’t remembered how many developers actually follow this conversation. Obviously, even if only one developer checks in here regularly, they consult with others and share what they’ve read here with the rest of the team. So, “they” is probably the more appropriate term, as I assume decisions are made collectively rather than by a single individual

I also use a translation tool from my native language. Of course, I do correct individual words when editing my text; although I am not fluent in English, I know enough to spot—at least occasionally—when the translator has gotten a word wrong. In the process, however, may be, I might overlook an error made by the translation tool or make a grammatical mistake myself. So I apologise if I sometimes make such mistakes

Charlie is here more than the others. But they are around trust me and the mod team also passes information up periodically to help.

Theres a good connection between mods and devs so that also helps.

If i am not mistaken, the engines are from something like A332/3 or A21NX/Y
