If we double tap anywhere on the screen, only airplanes at gates are listed in the bottom list, is this intentional ?

Yes. At larger airports it will be hard to handle without this feature.
Double click again, and you once again can see everything.
Exactly with 25 stands its a lot of efforts with scrolling cards back and forth that is why this feature was introduced.
I am moving it to invalidated bug category.
