Boeing 767-300ER Passenger Winglets
What is your suggestion?
When I have a passenger contract with a Boeing 767-300ER, the aircraft sometimes appears with winglets and sometimes without them. I would like passenger 767-300ERs to always use the winglet version. For cargo aircraft, I don’t mind if they remain without winglets.
** How would it work in the game?
**
Passenger Boeing 767-300ER contracts should always use the 767-300ER with winglets. Cargo 767-300ERs can stay as they are.
Why is this a good idea?
It would make passenger operations look more realistic and consistent. As far as I know, the 767-300ERs used for passenger flights in real-world airline service generally have winglets.
The issue here is that having all passenger B763s show up with winglets would be unrealistic, and it’s already done by livery anyways. Yes there’s some unrealistic examples in game, such as the United evoblue 767 showing up without winglets when that livery has only ever had winglets, but most of the others showing up without them are realistic, and ones that alternate. Delta and United (old livery in game) both use to have B763s without winglets, which is presumably why they show up with both. Then you have airlines like British Airways which have never operated 767s with winglets (in fact no 767 with Rolls Royce engines has ever been fitted with them). Here’s some examples of 300ERs without winglets.
The alternating makes it more interesting, even if it’s not working perfectly on some examples (especially the B752 where the alternating variations on applicable liveries seem to have been missed off altogether), it’s important to remember that most 767-300ERs would have been built without winglets, and later having them retrofitted.
Yeah exactly, plus the in game model has to represent liveries for both the standard 300 (although I can’t think of any airline that was using just them and not the 300ER to) and the 300ER, as there’s no physical differences between them.
I see what you mean; it’s just that most B767-300s (most of them) fly with winglets. I didn’t realize there were still airlines using the B767-300 without winglets. Thanks a lot for your feedback!
It’s also worth bearing in mind that players like myself exist who do enjoy operating older style airports. I fully agree, however, that it should be a player option to choose whether we want winglets or not so those players who only want winglets, can have them. If you’re operating a modern airport and have a Delta B763 on a route, all now have winglets so you wouldn’t want to see them without whereas someone like me who operates a Heathrow with a lot of 2015 liveries, loves the variety in winglets.
I have made a bug report regarding the modern United Rising Blue livery 767-300 having no winglets,
And a switch something like in my contract update could be cool, give players more choice,
