What is your suggestion?
Currently, contracts available in the map for purchase seem to be limited to liveries appearing in 2010 and later (the only exception AFAIK being Lufthansa’s A300-600, which was retired in 2009). My suggestion is simply to remove this limit and make all liveries that are not actually “special”* available for purchase. Or at least lower it significantly, for example to the '90s.
*) By this I mean liveries that are not just plain airline livery, but one/a few of a kind, designed for a specific purpose. Typically airline anniversary liveries, manufacturers’ house liveries, alliance liveries or promotional liveries (e. g. Emirates NBA or Etihad F1). This would also include retro liveries - present-day liveries made to look “old”, like Lufthansa’s retro B748 or Condor’s retro B763. Aircraft like An-225, Belugas or Dreamlifters would also be exceptions.
How would it work in the game?
There would be many more contracts available to purchase
Why is this a good idea?
This change would allow players to adjust their purchased contracts to fully fit their wants and personal preferences. Besides just using present-day liveries, players would be free to recreate days of the past with their favorite airline or aircraft type.
This would allow airlines like LTU, Varig or Sabena to re-appear regularly in the game, and for aircraft types such as the A340-200, it could be purchased with Air France, Lufthansa, Cathay Pacific or Austrian liveries freely. Older variants of 747 and 737, as well as DC-10 or L-1011 if they were added, would also benefit from this feature - the developers spend hundreds of hours creating the amazing models and liveries, and I think it’s a shame to “lock” a lot of them behind the wall of events.
Potentially this feature could also bring around more new players to the game, who prefer the “older stuff”.
