[Other] - Contract expire by real life date

:bullseye: What is your suggestion?

Enable putting a real life expire date on contract.

When date is reached, color code plane card indicating that contract is expired.
Player should be able to extend the contract if they want (set new expire date).

This will help ‘real airport simulator players’ to simulate seasonal contracts and will add more dynamic to a game. Somewhat as a remainder that some contracts are there for too long.

:hammer_and_wrench: How would it work in the game?
When creating contract, there should be option to enter end date.

Players can continue playing it as it is now, with no effect. Even player that enter date, still need to manually end contract (maybe opt to finish current cycle ?!)

:balance_scale: Why is this a good idea?
Give more to realism and dynamic.

In the bellow picture, RHO contract has expired. User can extend it or cancel it

Love this idea! I think if they were to add this, your system works great, but the player should be able to get the contract back with all of their leveling progress still saved. You could have a sections of “Inactive contracts”, very similar to how the ‘Transferred contracts’ tab looked after the release of 2.0.

Wouldn’t work , as how will you get the reward when you complete that tier?

As Q mentioned, probably a modification of only expiring at the next reward tier completion AFTER the set expiration date, i.e. 3/3 or 6/6 instead of 4/6.
I’d also add somewhere to store these “expired” contracts, that way, they can be picked back up if desired without too much hassle of looking back through the map and recoding flight numbers, as well as a resumption of where the rewards tier was left off, such as resuming at 0/6 instead of restarting at 0/1. This would also come with an option to completely remove the contract like is currently in the game, and some kind of warning that if you do choose to completely cancel it, all progress is lost.
Not sure how’d it’d work with player contracts… probably wouldn’t be applicable.

You said it much better than I did, but yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking with my message, too. Having a place to store the paused contracts and keep the leveling progress, kind of like a similar UI to the Transferred contracts tab.

Initial idea was to have only a simple notification on expire date and leave to a player to decide what he wants to do with contract and notification. Ignore it, configure new date, end it, end it after cycle…

But if there can be an ‘Inactive contracts’ page, I would then like to be able to configure Start and End date or Valid period… e.g Contract valid from March-October. Contract can then be ‘frozen’ as is, even at 4/6 progress, and activated once Start date is reached, given that Contract cap is not reached, automatically or manually by player, when red dot is there…

Maybe like this

This way airports can have real seasonal contracts. Winter and summer fleet…

To be fully honest, I would really dislike your original suggestion. BUT, seasonal contracts is a REALLY good idea. I would love to see that, especially perhaps in places like european airports. It could be as simple as contract generators tilting to larger planes to sunnier destinations during the summer and smaller planes to snowier or more business-oriented travel in the winter. That might be the best suggestion i have seen on the forum yet.

Honestly, it’s feels like 33% of LHR traffic is Seasonal (99% of those being BA).

Very few flights at Heathrow are seasonal, but yes most are BA as they have most slots,

Making my list it appeared a very large majority of flights are seasonal, usually only during the summer. Now, that may not mean an entire route is seasonal, but a large portion of the flight numbers on that route can be surge through the summer and fill other routes during off-season.

You check Wikipedia to see which one are seasonal.

I check on FR24 and schedules which ones run through the whole year or which ones only run through say May through October or similar.

What on flightradar do you check?

That scheduled flight number for the past year of operations

Yeah helps if you know the flight codes, but nothing Google won’t show you.
