[Other] - Fix for United States Player Aircraft Registrations

:bullseye: What is your suggestion?
Change the way the tail numbers for US Registered player aircraft Generate

:hammer_and_wrench: How would it work in the game?
Right now, the way tail numbers for U.S. player aircraft generate is it will start with the prefix “N” which is correct, but then it will generate 3 random letters after the N, giving you a Registration such as “NABC” which is unrealistic.

How it should be generated is still using the Prefix “N”, but after that it will generate 2 to 5 numbers after, and sometime generate 1 or 2 letters after the numbers. This could look like some of the following examples:

  • N1
  • N12
  • N123
  • N1234
  • N12345
  • N1A
  • N1AB
  • N12A
  • N12AB
  • N123A
  • N123AB
  • N1234A

Additionally, like most airlines do in the US, the optional letters in the tail could be customized to be the same across ones fleet, for example, the way Alaska Airlines always ends their tail numbers with “AS or AK”, or the way American ends their tail numbers with “AA”.

:balance_scale: Why is this a good idea?
With this change, US tail numbers would not only be more realistic, but would be both a lot more varied, and more customized to a players’ airline.

Not just the US regs that are incorrect. Japanese, German and British regs are also incorrect and cut down to be shorter than they are. I’m wondering if the game has a fixed limit of 3 characters after the initial prefix, and that’s what’s stopping them from being accurate.

In case of the US they then can use 1 number and 2 letters which is realistic like Nike has N1KE or Piper N2AB

Funny you mentioned N1KE, she is based at my local airport

I think devs may have deliberately done this way to avoid matching real world regs.

I also remember at HKG you get B-AAAA, which is a reg range that no plane in any Chinese region (Mainland China, B-0000, Taiwan, B-00000, Hong Kong, B-AAA, Macau, not too sure on Macau but I think also B-AAA).

So you could be lucky to get B-HSBC, which is the most cursed one when you have an airport full of the godd*mn HSBC.

On the other hand, you get OK-AAA at PRG, which matches real word registrations.

BTW I think Macau is B-MAA, i.e. the first letter is always M.

Yea
Reg matches for SXM as well
