MithFly Australia’s New orders for new aircraft/MithFly Australia’s first ever Airbus A320 takes its first commercial flight
In recent news, MithFly Australia’s fleet expansion has just gotten bigger as MithFly Australia has made additional orders for new aircraft. This includes
3 Additional Airbus A320-216 aircraft featuring sharklets
5 Airbus A320-211(To be used for short-term and then retired)
3 Airbus A321-211(Two with wing-tips, another featuring sharklets)
5 Airbus A320 Neo aircraft(Airbus A320-251N)
3 Airbus A321 Neo aircraft(Airbus A321-252NX)
These aircrafts are an addition to the fleet renewal “Project Renew” which already contains the order of 5 new Airbus A319 Neo(Airbus A319-153N) and 12 Airbus A320-216 aircraft.
In recent news, MithFly has offically commenced the first ever Airbus A320 commercial flight in MithFly Australia and has successfully inaugurated the Sydney-Canberra route. VH-M3A took off from Sydney at 10:32am and landed in Canberra at 11:15am,commencing a new era of travel in Australia.
This new development has come in wake of the recent delivery of MithFly’s third Airbus A320-200, VH-M3C, which was however deviated to Melbourne by the airline, and landed at Melbourne Tullamarine airport at 11:41pm on the 3rd of December on Runway 16. The Airbus A320-216 has been spotted sitting at a remote stand on the outskirts of the airport’s area.
In the coming days, following the inaugural flight between Sydney and Canberra, testing will begin on the Melbourne-Sydney route. VH-M3C will be accompanied by VH-M3B on testing from
the,while VH-M3A will be the sole aircraft operating Sydney-Canberra flights daily until January 10th when the Sydney-Melbourne route will be inaugurated.
MithFly Australia’s CEO has also now opted to have it’s base at Sydney’s Terminal 2, sided alongside other Terminal 2 users like Regional Express, Jetstar and Virgin Australia.
However, during the Christmas Period, MithFly’s Embraer E170, which is used on the Sydney-Noumea route, is expected to go through maintenance, exiting from service on the 22nd of December and heading out to Singapore Seletan(XSP) for maintenance. The aircraft is expected to return to service at the start of 2025. During this period, MithFly has decided to use VH-M3B (Airbus A320)on the route during the Embraer’s absence. This will be the first time ever that the Airbus A320 is used on international flights within the airline. In the meantime, VH-M3D will also be delivered and will join VH-M3C on testing on flights between Sydney and Melbourne.
MithFly Australia flights into Melbourne will also be using Melbourne Airport’s Terminal 3, alongside Virgin Australia from January 10th 2025.
Flight testing between Sydney and Brisbane is expected to start from Mid to late January onwards.
