Why should this airline be added?
A Canadian-owned airline founded in Athens by a group of Greek-Canadian entrepreneurs who’s main mission was to provide a non-stop link between Greece and Canada/USA year-round. They acquired their sole 767-300 in June 2013, previously having operated for Martinair, to fly the routes to North America as well as some charter services to the UK, Sweden and Germany for holiday makers to Greece. They also conducted Hajj flights for Royal Air Maroc and Air Madagascar as well as charter flights to Somalia and Eritrea.The airline operated flights to New York and Toronto from Athens and Thessaloniki plus Montreal from Athens. They had plans to expand flights from Athens to Chicago, Boston and Johannesburg. They also had set plans for winter 2015 to run flights to Dubai but the airline collapsed before that schedule kicked in.
The airline had a lot of trouble during its time with their aircraft and with costs such as fuel. The airline ended up finishing operations in August 2015 after a crack on the cockpit window caused the aircraft to be grounded in Zagreb and the flight schedule to collapse, with all flights cancelled after a week of uncertainty. They had to lease in an A330-200 of BH Air to run some flights to New York which they failed to pay for as well so it’s safe to say the airline wasn’t in a healthy place.
They had plans to acquire A340s for their routes but ended up with the 767, however, these plans never went away and the airline leased a Hi Fly A343 for ops in the busy 2015 summer but these were short-lived due to the 767’s grounding and bankruptcy.
It would be great to see in-game as a Greek airline capable of international routes to the likes of IAD, BKK, HKG and MSY plus it could also be an option for European flights which it conducted so would be a cool option for the likes of LHR.
