[UI] - Please, fix the new notification system, I'm begging you

:bullseye: What is your suggestion?
At notification settings, create more toggle buttons in order to select more precisely which notifications we want to receive.

:hammer_and_wrench: How would it work in the game?

Now, you can receive notifications for the following reasons:

  • Contract accepted
  • Contract received (and also renewals, but let’s group them as if they were one to ease the idea explanation)
  • [NEW] Contract pings
  • [NEW] Flight departed (which is really pissing me off, by the way. I’m not saying this feature is not good, but I just want to disable it so bad)
  • I may be missing even more cases…

The big problem here is that, for those situations mentioned above, it only exists:

  • “Receive updates for contracts with other players”
  • “Receive notifications for incomplete player contracts”

And the question is:

When is a notification considered for the first or the second toggle, depending on the, more than 2, previously mentioned scenarios?

Not to mention that the description of both current toggles is, at least, confusing.

:balance_scale: Why is this a good idea?

I’m really tired and quite furious about getting, what I consider spam, but I don’t want to lose relevant notifications, so each player should definitely be able to choose which specific notifications are relevant to them.

Thank you for the attention.

Normally I don’t bother much with the gameplay suggestions on here, but this I can get behind. I don’t like having notifications turned off so I can see if I have any renewals or contract requests at my airports. However, I’m now inundated with pointless notifications telling me when another player sends a plane to me or my plane is on its way back, and there’s no other option besides having no notifications on at all.

I really hope they get split into contract request notifications and aircraft handled notifications, possibly even a third option to let players know that daily events are ready to claim. At least then we can pick and choose what we want to be notified about. The current system is genuinely annoying and arguably a little on the intrusive side as you feel as if you’re being spammed with them if you have a sizeable number of connections.

I’m happy to see I’m not alone at this.

I forgot to mention that I wouldn’t like to see the “Flight departed” notifications removed, as I find them really interesting for new players, that have smaller amounts of contracts being sent to their airports, or even to their first INN airport…

I’ll be honest these notifications don’t bother me much, hell they help cause I’m a busy as hell college student so the reminder is nice

That said I will also advocate for the option cause I understand you lot run 6x bigger P2P connection operations than I do and I can see uow it gets annoying

I agree wholeheartedly. I know an inbox system is in the works, and I’d way rather see notifications (other than the plane is handled ones) there than in device notifications. I really dislike notifications for games in general. I much prefer an in app inbox that isn’t mixed with my IRL stuff.

That’s a good idea. Where did they mention that inbox system?

Charlie briefly mentioned it in general prerelease.

Game News Announcement Thread: here is the summary, at the bottom of this thread

I don’t see it, can you copy paste a sentence for me to look for it?

I believe its this:

What We Can Already Confirm

There are a few things we can confidently say are in active development:

  • :airplane: The B737 family

  • :globe_showing_europe_africa: A new playable airport

  • :open_mailbox_with_raised_flag: An Inbox system

  • :trophy: Challenges, which are one of the important building blocks toward future Alliances

  • :artist_palette: Custom airline names, decals, and liveries

We’re also making excellent progress on the technical side of aircraft customization. More than half of the aircraft in the game have already been converted to the new parametric livery system, bringing us much closer to full customization support.

So the new inbox system
