That’s the entire point of generic airports. They will have one airport model, that can be used for any airport of similar size anywhere in the world. What will change is the location in the map, available contracts and destinations, RWY numbering and METAR weather data.
That way many more players will be able to play their local airport, that wouldn’t otherwise make it into the game at all, while it won’t be completely accurate. The Devs will still continue developing 100% true-to-life airports, this is just a way to supplement those with more, smaller airports. It was mentioned before that the most popular generic airports might eventually get a remodel where they would be made realistic.
It will also give the Devs a test-bed to try out new features, such as wind-based RWY use, before implementing them in “standard” airports.
Is there any news on New Delhi Airport? I remember some people saying that the licensing problem was solved and now it could be added but i’ve seen nothing official about it. With the addition of a new indian (generic) airport it makes me wonder if New Delhi has been scrapped or replaced.
As far as I remember it was scrapped ages ago.
Looking forward to the changes.
Sitting in a little red box, with a glass door and I tiny hammer next to it, with a sign reading “break in case of emergency” lol
I really hope it’s true, DEL entering the MSY style, but it’s just hopes and Devs are already jam-packed lol
@kubasan I’m afraid, that HKG (and in the future any other large airport) will look quite similar empty like BKK or LHR, due to hugh amount of parking stands and the limitied rwy movings amount. It would good to be able to make a “cut” after the deboarding (with jetway and rear stair stay connected) and handling can continue after some time on players intension, as it is in real life when planes have a turnover time on ground of 4hrs or more. Airports would not looking so empty and it would be way more realistic.
That‘s a really good point. I always have the same thoughts while playing LHR or BKK. Would be great to have a solution for that maybe in the upcoming Updates especially for the larger airports.
There’s a very simple solution. Don’t start any handling and let a load land first. Not much effort you can just leave the game running whilst your doing something else
I second this idea. I goes along with my idea of having jetways attached while at the gate.
Yes I know and I use that also in this way. However it is not really realistic and when you start the handling of all aircrafts in that way, you need a lot of GSE of each type.
you can handle with minimum crew
And not just cargo but the converted versions too (will have window frames visible as in real life) will be called CF (Converted Freight) so 3 versions get its liveries right now.
I think HKG will be better than LHR and BKK, as it might not be necessary to cross a RWY and the distance of the RWY is so large that the safety regulations don´t prevent incoming planes.
We’re so glad we get so many stands! Many stands mean enough workers and contracts. ![]()
I can confirm these facts, in LHR is the main reason therefore crossing planes from the south terminals to reach departing RWY 27R, in BKK is this since the security regulations were implemented with the update where we get GRU. In GRU it´s the same, departing planes from RWY 10L prevent approaching planes at 10R!
But I am relaxed, because I think we can manage a lot of this (I don´t say problems, because the game is running correctly and smoothly) at first with the new scheduling system and later with the transport management system.
With the scheduling system i will:
-
lock out all passenger stands south of RWY 27L in LHR to reduce crossing planes (cargos) to a minimum,
-
plan to use the S Terminal at BKK, which is served from RWY 20L, maximum with short distance contracts so RWY 20L is permanently in use for approaching planes too. Approaching planes at 20L don´t prevent landing at RWY 20R. If I am playing 2 hours there, no or less planes land at RWY 20L after the first service for S stands, because the airport has so many stands that all planes get immediately a stand anywhere. Additionally I will lock out stands which were served by RWY 20 (stand group 1xx and 2xx), not all but a lot. I will plane Arrivals from RWY 20 for about 20 minutes long distance contracts.
-
in GRU no management will help there, at the moment. If I need an airport in South America I will prefer to use SCL.
With the transport management system i will:
-
redirect taxiways for departing planes in LHR to the end of RWY 27L before they have to cross. Then more time is available and it is possible to cross 3 or maybe more planes before the next arrival is vacant.
-
redirect taxiways for departing planes in BKK to use RWY 20 instead of RWY 20L, so much as necessary, up to this point so that no backflow occurs anywhere! So most incoming planes use RWY 20R and 20L and departing most of them use RWY 20.
-
At IAD I will manage RWY 19C and 19L the same way, by redirecting departing Cargo Planes to 19L. But in IAD I think we will have fewer handlers after optimizing the airport!
So I will relax, I am happy about all the news here and plan what I can do in the future at my airports with all the new management tools. I believe that it is possible to implement positive changes in almost all airports, depending on individual needs.
Happy flying.
That sounds fantastic!
I like the idea of Maitnence and Ambulift
So no airlines at T4, like Qatar and Air France?
Based on how he wants to use the Satellite terminal for locals at BKK, I don’t think he cares about realism.
