BKK - post release discussion

The airport is big and the runways all work. It’s really nice. I’m building a cargo plane for quick levelling up

No way I didn’t find that. Thanks

Well, now that the update has been out for a day, what is everyone’s first impressions? Here are mine:

Connectivity

E175s to NGO, Ms to MCT and NGO, and Ls and Xs pretty much anywhere make this an exceptional airport for connections of all sizes.

SXM and INN aren’t possible to connect to, but most people in my experience want very few wide bodies to SXM, and INN is S/M only,

Lots of stands make for a great place to have a fleet

Airport Ops

The runway config feels fresh with 3 working runways, all serving different quadrants of the airport. I do find some of the taxi times to cargo and remote stands on the East apron a bit high.

I’m surprised to see so few X gates at the main terminal and that the vast majority are remote stands. Infinibusses are very useful for this haha!

Premium Pass

Overall, I found this premium pass has significantly better value than SYD did. 5 X planes, over a dozen L, and only 3 planes that can’t reach a player airport is great for people with my play style! Also an excellent variety of planes to keep things interesting.

Only 1 livery is a bit stingy haha!

Won’t ever complain about things like DH64s and AN124s! It’s nice to have some unique planes in the fleet!

AI Contracts

There’s a nice variety of local and regional contracts that have great liveries! Definitely not going to be as stale as LHR!

Overall, nice update devs! Though I’m really hoping a small one comes next. I’m getting a little tired of these mega airports!

Just don’t pushback

Great info… I like the large number of Local contracts so you aren’t constantly grinding to get the 2nd star, and you can save those silver planes! I love anything new with this game!

Can anyone in the know help me.

For context I am incredibly anal and like to run my airports as close to real life as possible. I.E BA & IB at Heathrow T5, star at T2 etc. Same at Prague splitting schengen and non schengen with most loco’s on remote. And the same at SYD with domestic and international split, and Qantas having their own terminal.

I have no knowledge of the stand allocations, if any at BKK, other than concourse A is domestic only. Does anyone know if there is any structure to the gate allocation at BKK, and if so what is it?

I have tried looking on google and had no luck

In the past, I’ve looked at a per flight basis. I either looked at the physical ADS-B data of their start/stop points (FR24), or their logged start and stop gates (FlightAware). Some airports and some airlines I think either don’t have the coverage for that, or they (and maybe some airlines) have a security policy on transponders only being on after takeoff/before landing. I’ve not attempted to build a BKK IRL contract sheet but I can and I can try to include gates on there. Google maps and or other satellite sources can help vaguely, if they aren’t outdated.
Edit I’m making one now, but it’ll take forever (so many destinations/airlines/aircraft).

When grinding LHR the beginning was super stale. Only boring old British Airways for locals. It got better, but 30 levels of that was terrible.

I agree, definitely going to be in my top 3 for airports to grind considering the last few airports were:

LHR - boring, local is always BA E170 and regional is always eurowings a319 or braathend B463

SYD - No variety in local and regional M contracts with only around 10 M airlines

LEJ - No interesting M cargo as most of it is just DHL B738/734 and smartlynx A21F and L planes are not updated

SXM - Slow and monotonous with only 7 pax M stands with 5 being mixed L

I agree, the first couple levels lhr killed me(especially since the E-jets and b463 don’t even operate there irl). But after reaching international it became an sp generating BEAST(gained 15k sp by playing for 3 hours in the last 2 days)

Sorry but this is BKK’s thread, please don’t talk about LHR. Let’s respect the thread.

Read the whole conversation. We’re talking about lhr relative to bkk

For me, BkK will be by far the airport where the most GP will be obtained, since it is big and it will be great to play it.

Runway Incursions
When my plane took off at 19R, a cargo plane landing at 20R crossed runway 19R

so does the 2nd landing runway only be used for cargo?
