General Pre-Release Discussion

I gotchu

I dont mean to sound mean!! But nobody wants to keep hearing you talk about your CGK!!! We want to talk about the new update with the L410 and Prague but no, you have to interupt it all and have to show how great CGK is. Please stop and go and have this chat on the CGK airport suggestion page. Its annoying for all of us. Like seriously whenever a new chat happens its always gotta include CGK for some reason…

Like please do it elsewhere.

In fairness you do talk about MAN a lot

Couldn’t agree more. Every time there’s actual news like the L410 or PRG progress, the thread gets derailed by the same CGK broken record. Keep CGK chat in its own suggestion thread where it belongs so the rest of us can talk about the actual update

Does anyone know the range of the L410???

1,350 Nautical Miles - 375 Nautical miles from what google says

Why is the range in planes never the same in real life than to the game?

because it varies in the ratio i guess. I also think that the devs make the range lower than it should be and higher than it should be for some

Wow can’t wait to see the remodel :eyes:

I really appreciate you sharing the details and steps involved with “making” a plane. As someone who knows nothing about graphic design, modeling, and animations it really helps me understand and appreciate the complexity, effort, and toil of these!

In my line of work, I get a lot of “can’t you just” requests where the answer is: “if only you understood how hard that is” – this education helps with that!

Meet the Team – The Invisible Magic Behind World of Airports :desktop_computer::airplane:

When people think about World of Airports, they usually think about beautiful airports, detailed aircraft, realistic liveries, and stunning visuals.

And that’s completely fair—they’re the first things you notice.

But the game is much more than what you can actually see on the screen.

Behind every successful landing is a group of developers making sure the game actually works.

The aircraft, airports, and animations would simply sit there if there wasn’t an entire backend infrastructure running behind the scenes.

Without it:

  • Your profile couldn’t be saved.

  • You couldn’t exchange currencies.

  • You couldn’t purchase Golden Planes or airport packs.

  • Airports and aircraft couldn’t be unlocked.

  • Online contracts wouldn’t exist.

  • And I certainly wouldn’t be able to rescue your broken profiles when something goes wrong. :slightly_smiling_face:

The Invisible Team

Today I’d like to introduce two people that most players never hear about:

David and Jindra.

They’re responsible for many of the systems that quietly keep World of Airports running every single day.

The crazier the magic they perform, the less visible they become. They’re also probably the shyest members of the team.

But without their work, World of Airports simply wouldn’t exist.

“Why Do You Have Ads?”

This is another question we hear quite often.

We know that most players aren’t particularly fond of advertisements.

Unfortunately, we’ve tried paying Google with Wollars, Silver Planes, and even Golden Planes, but they insist on real money.

The servers, databases, cloud services, authentication systems, and many other online services that keep World of Airports running all have real operating costs.

A simple way to think about it is this:

Imagine we own a billboard beside a highway.

We provide the advertising space, but an advertising network decides which advertisement is displayed there.

We only provide the space—we do not choose or control which individual advertisements you see.

Our revenue comes from making that advertising space available, while the advertising provider is responsible for selecting and delivering the ads.

More Than Just a Billboard

Recently, David completely rewrote and modernized our advertising system.

The goal wasn’t to display more ads.

The goal was to make sure the entire system works correctly, validates ad delivery properly, and communicates reliably with the advertising providers.

It’s one of those improvements that most players will never notice—but it’s essential for keeping the game sustainable.

The Things You Never See

Besides the advertising system, David and Jindra work on many of the services running behind the scenes, including:

  • Backend infrastructure

  • Server architecture

  • Databases

  • Authentication

  • Player profiles

  • Online services

  • Account recovery

  • Server communication

  • Cloud services

  • Countless other systems that quietly keep the game running

These aren’t the features you’ll find in a DevBlog or a screenshot.

But every time you successfully log in, synchronize your profile, complete an online contract, recover your account, or make a purchase, you’re benefiting from work that happens almost entirely behind the scenes.

So today we’d simply like to say thank you to David and Jindra.

They may not create the aircraft you fly or the airports you manage—but without them, none of it would ever leave the ground.:airplane:

An airport simply cannot operate without air traffic controllers and ground handlers. Travelers never come into direct contact with them. Yet it is their presence that keeps the world turning. The same goes for WOA. Thanks to David and Jindra.

Your game might actually be the best mobile game out there regarding ads. I don’t think I’ve ever had any issues and I’m unbelievably grateful that if you don’t need the extra bits, the ads never show. Honestly the most consumer friendly app store game and any complainers about that…

Loving these Charlie, it’s brilliant to find out more about the team and the roles and things they get up to. Plus ofc the inside the development of airports and aircraft and liveries is phenomenal.

Is it just that I am so used to ads everywhere, or did I focus on the game and not notice the ads at all…
