Not really because AMS would never be a Generic airport, you gotta think of smaller airports like Rotterdam, Southampton, Jersey, Mahon or Whitehorse etc not big major airports. And if those generic airports get much support or play time then they get upgraded to High detail airport.
Thats actually a really good point. I think part of it comes down to them never having attained the level of use that the Comet 4 saw. The -1 had significant issues, of course, as did the Comet 2, and few airlines ended up operating them before they were permanently grounded. The comet three never actually entered service IIRC and the comet 4 was the most-used one.
I suggest to keep the existing model and add the new as the wings are different, the existing one can be bit tuned in future. So at the end we have at least two versions of the famous Comet.
The wings, windows, etc are different. I could be wrong but I believe there are also structural differences in the fuselage.
EDIT: yeah there were significant changes in the fuselage length in addition to wing and propulsion changes
Of course, just the wings are obvious. So suggest to keep the old model and add the new. No extra work for the devs, the players can chose from the hanger.
I dont like that approach, and clearly the devs dont either, given the 757 changes made a few days ago. And the differences between the variants are CLEARLY visible. there is an 18 foot difference in length between the 1 and 4, and 15 feet between the 2 and 3 alone
They have also put in a lot of effort in the last year or so to eliminate the placeholder aircraft that dont match their real-life counterparts but are instead simply another member of the family but renamed. think CRJ and whatnot
No problem, just share my idea, as always there are plus and minus.
You have raise a great point as the earlier variants didnât gain the popularity that the Comet 4 did, especially after the multiple accidents that occurred. And like you said, the Comet 3 never went into service, only one was fully built (G-ANLO) as a demonstrator though it did appear in BOAC colours.
Would still love to see the variants added but obviously I donât want bash on the devs for whatâs really a minor complaint about the aircraft.
Edit: G-ANLO also appeared in BEA colours with its wings shortened but honestly, Iâm asking way too much when it comes to that.
yeah, for sure. Only somewhat related, but I think there is a clear divide in the community right now. There are people who prefer development of as many models as possible, at the expense of realism, and there are people who vastly prefer quality models that accurately reflect the real thing, even if it takes months to do so. Itâs an interesting thing, and I think the community is at somewhat of a crossroads if they continue with the generic airport system.
Letâs play this update first, personally I am for details too even if it takes longer to create them, was just thinking we could use the old model Comet. Generic airports is another topic, itâs good to have options, nobody is forced to play a Generic airport, it is a trial anyway so I wish the community to cool down a bit and first try things. We have so many good things to come in the near future. Letâs celebrate the anniversary today and give the devs a huge complement what has been achieved in this great game.
Actually, that is incorrect. Generic airports are also for airports that have too big of a land size to be in the game. Take an example of my home airport of DEN. DEN has one of the best locations in the game but due to itâs massive size, it will probably come as a generic airport. AMS might also come as a generic airport believe it or not since it has complex runways and many gates, possibly too much for the game to handle
General systems and real systems are clearly two different types. I really donât understand why some people donât understand? Isnât it good to build your own airport? Why do we have to call it CNN? Itâs because players currently donât have permission to allocate airport locations. But it cannot be ruled out that future permissions will be opened.
oh for sure. The thing i really worry about tho is that currently, when new players are looking for a shortcut way out of inn/bri/prg, they tend to buy SXM cause it is dirt cheap. So now, they will likely instead buy CNN, which is obviously not at all realistic, and has less to do, and could turn off many new players who buy it.
The current priory is too have enough spread on the global map, once that is completed itâs time to see which other airport the community is interested in, we have the current voting system for that.
there will likely be a new voting system instead of the current one, perhaps where the devs propose a small handful of airports and the community votes, maybe like how the minecraft mob votes used to work.
Valid point you have here.
Edit: We also need to see how HK plays from performance point of view, stability, older devices etc. Than next year things become more realistic what is possible to add in the game.
Exactly what I was saying⌠although it doesnât have to be a small airport, is my point. I mean, letâs take the example of CGK Jakarta (just an example, everyone! Donât get your hopes up⌠or do I donât care). There would be no reason to make it a generic airport since the situation is so good, and it isnât even that big. Not a lot of airports in the world are like DEN.
Donât think you read it right, generic airports are only for small airports, whist bigger airports get high details and if one of the generic airports is popular enough it will get high detail treatment.
They test it themselves as one of the last updates android sent it back to devs, as their was an issue with it.
It can be a training airport for them. And I doubt it turn off many players, how well Hong Kong will handle and all other plans they wanna do with the game, though donât think older devices will cope. I stopped playing few years ago when playing Heathrow and on my last phone as it was stuttering, plays okay on my IPhone 14.
