By 2026, the first phase of the aviation cluster project at Incheon Airport is planned to be completed.
A large-scale “High-tech Complex Aviation Complex” will be built next to Incheon International Airport’s 4th runway, where aircraft can be renovated and maintained.
When the first phase of the project is completed in 2026, a large-scale multimodal aviation cluster will be created in Yeongjongdo Island, which can be “modified aircraft, heavy maintenance, and engine maintenance” at the same time in connection with nearby Korean Air’s new engine maintenance plant.
The Incheon International Airport Advanced Complex Aviation Complex (622,000㎡), which will be completed in February 2026, is only the first phase of the project. Incheon International Airport plans to develop 923,000 square meters as a second-phase project by 2031, and 799,000 square meters as a third-phase project by 2040. When the third stage is completed, a large-scale aviation maintenance complex with the size of 112 soccer fields (710,000 pyeong) will be created.
When the high-tech complex is established in February 2026, it is expected that global companies and domestic professional MRO companies will expand their global market share by providing integrated aviation maintenance services.

Not exactly what I’d deem a worthy comment but thought I’d allow it lol so I can add my comment that I really hope it isn’t the next but we’ll have to see. These big hubs I just don’t find fun, whereas Gimpo would be more my cup of tea or Jeju though I know they’re not as popular.
I agree completely. I dislike these major hubs. They are too big and they are just too hard to handle. Airports like ZRH and SYD size or smaller are my cup of tea. I Agree tih you that Gimpo would be a good airport. Just took a look at Jeju and I actually would like this airport to be added. But we seriosly need an airport inbetween HKK-HKG and SYD before we go further north or find an African Airport of some sort.
Having a Korean airport in the game would be great!

if this could be done I would like an airport that deals with cargo only planes to serve as a worldwide distribution hub to all countries

Incheon would be smaller than many ingame.
Side to side, it’s 4.5ish miles by 3.3 miles. Only airports that come close are Dulles and HKG. HKG is 4.5ish miles runway render distance wise because of the slight offset, Seoul’s is because I’ve included the North West maintenance cargo facility and is the same. HKG however is only 2.6 miles wide from cargo to far runway whereas you have another half a mile of render for ICN, if that maintenance/cargo facility is included, otherwise it’s merely 2.9 miles so only slightly larger.
Dulles based on render distance is 4.1 miles for the 3 runway directions and something like 3.6 miles for the East to West run, but ofc the actual amount of aircraft on the airport at one time would be less at Dulles than ICN and also it’s more compact in its layout regarding where the planes are parked.
ICN is much smaller than other suggestions though such as SIN clocking in at 3.5 miles wide and 5 miles lengthish (Again, counting what I believe are the render distances for runways on landings and takeoffs) and ISL at 5 miles wide when completed (Basing this off the measurement of the current Google Maps satellite photo), and 4 miles in length from the Southern most apron to where I believe the runway render would be. And ofc, IAD and HKG are the 2 biggest pains for people’s airports crashing due to lake of memory and using older devices, to name but 2 issues.
And ofc, future Dubai is measuring in at what looks like 5x5 miles which is huge. I think we have a better chance of seeing ICN in the future than any of the above but I think it will be a bit away, likely a good few airports will be before it.

The truth is, this airport should have been in the game instead of Hong Kong, since Hong Kong received the most votes, but oh well. The developers opted for Hong Kong.
Except that the devs have said votes don’t really matter when it comes to airport suggestions. Zurich got added with 80 votes when announced. Votes will always be higher for mega airports over smaller more niche ones but it doesn’t mean they have any more chance of being added. So it’s not the truth.
