Honestly this is why I’m suggesting PDX. To answer your questions:
I think you make a very compelling case for Portland. I’m a sucker for tiny planes and Beechcraft cargos would be my jam.
In terms of beauty, In assuming you’re referencing Mount Hood? I’m not sure if any of the Oregon Cascades would make it into the 3D terrain just due to the distance they are away from the city. Most of the terrain we get is fairly close and the distance from the airport to Hood’s summit is 40ish mi away as the bird flies. I know there’s more than just Mount Hood but I’m a bit of a mountain snob so that’s what sticks out to me.
Many of the airports you mention already have pretty solid connection opportunities for a wide variety of planes. I’m not sure about this as I haven’t tested, but do any of the B class cargo player planes go from SAN to PDX in game? SAN is the only airport in game with dedicated class B stand for cargo BUT there isn’t any player airports I can send it to. If PDX could be a potential solution to that… I’d be much more intrigued to hop on board that train.
I think it’s a good airport idea overall, and thanks for sharing. I’ve only been to Portland via train, so haven’t experienced it in person so it’s nice to learn a bit about it.
In a different world where IAD and MSY didn’t exist I’d make a case for my hometown airport FLL. Yes, that FLL. The one everyone in the US hates.
FLL has two bi-directional east west runways, four commercial terminals and a small cargo area. Southwest, Alaska, Delta, Air Canada and United have strong presence here as well as Spirit which is headquartered there. It’s a nice jump off to the islands and connects well to the rest of the world.
But, like I said, MSY and IAD are too close so that neuters the utility of FLL in this game. What makes the most sense to me would be the Pacific Northwest. Seattle, Portland or Vancouver could serve as nice hubs in the game.
Maybe Telluride! It would be a Great connection for SAN players with B planes! Also (I think) spirit is flying to there sessional so it would be only PAX C class… not good, or?
ANC would be a great airport for C planes from NGO or SAN! Also it would be cargo heaven and a great PAX airport
Telluride is actually a really interesting sleeper airport for the Rocky Mountain Region, and could be a good excuse to add some rarer planes to the mix. I mention Jackson Hole Regional Airport frequently, and it’s a better airport for C-D planes, but Telluride gets Denver Air Connection which has a really unique fleet.
Historically they’ve also operated the Embraer 120 which could be an interesting event arrival.
The Dornier 328 family has some really interesting event options and normal options for other airports currently in game as well:
I believe all of the 328 series are now being produced by Deutsche Aircraft in the MR, J, and Turboprop variants.
My big concern with an airport like Telluride is that DAC is currently its only connection partner, and I can’t find any modern airlines that have served this airport outside of various operators under United Express (E120s, Dash-8s, Beechcraft 1900Ds) and Botique Air (on the Pilatus PC-12). I could really only see this being a viable option once business jets are added.
Thanks for the interesting idea, Staff. Could be interesting.
Always welcome

Nah, nothing too close about it
. We have LEJ and PRG in the game and soon to have ZRH which is about the same distance to INN as LEJ is to PRG. FLL would be a decent airport, like a smaller and easier on older devices Miami.
Plenty of chance for new airports in the future and I think FLL would be a much better Florida airport than MIA.
I do have my own suggestion because I looked at it about 3/4 hour ago and now I’m gonna do a suggestion for it
. Jackson Hole Airport in Western Wyoming, small and could make for a good generic though the scenery is too gorgeous to have it as a generic for long.
Ummm… I think I’ve inspired you…
I genuinely didn’t see that
, I came across it by chance while looking at Chilean airlines lol. There was an American airline that tried to set up a freight airline in Chile and it fell through so they pulled out, picture beneath it looked stunning and was the link to the airport and naturally clicked it and then spent half an hour on Google Earth studying the place and then on zillow looking at houses ![]()
Great minds think alike!!
I’ve done this twice now, did it with St John earlier regarding the Air Canada flight. I need to start reading peoples comments!
I love FLL! (Well, everything except Terminal 3) and would love to see it in the game. It would offer the connectivity of Miami but in a smaller footprint that’s easier to manage.
I like USA and airports from there, I would prefer an airport like MCT, with 2 Runways at the west coast, at Hawai or ANC. If the airport is bigger, like HKG its ok. HKG works fine and I can serve many player contracts due to the high performance. But if the dev says we should keep the balance, a medium airport is also ok. I would like to see airport in Africa also, so that it is better to serve players who are playing at the southern hemnisphere and we can reach new airports not only with E planes, but also D possible…. and if a new airport in this regions not possible or because it is not economically viable, due less communities, so a generic airport (maybe with 2 Runways) could also help to liven up the world map with WOA airports.
