Looking forward to the RJ100s I can have coming in and out, though sadly these stands have been replaced with straight ones lowering the amount available. Maybe the devs could have them shared as they were around in 2017
Sadness but understandable. Makes the RJ100s a bit null though at the airport, taking up larger aircrafts spots but alas. Will be cool to see like at HKG with the new terminal.
Wondering, what might be a fun addition is if you could maybe upgrade from the old style to the new, maybe have the current terminal and future one, considering unlike HKG, the construction hasn’t begun yet. Might be quite a far fetched idea though
From what I understand, the reconstruction process from the old terminal to the new one will be quite long. However, judging by maps and various ATC tower videos, it seems that the first works are already starting.
Based on what I’ve found and read, the plan appears to be that a new ATC tower for the terminal will be built first, and only then the new terminal will be gradually constructed to replace the old one.
That said, this is just my own theory, based on the information I’ve come across and the concept/model videos of the new terminal published on the airport’s YouTube channel.
In fact, we already have similar examples with HKG and MCT.
To some extent, I think it makes sense to implement a ‘finalized’ reconstruction, as it would simplify things for the developers in the long run. That way, they wouldn’t have to rework the airport later on — like with SAN and its new terminal, or NGO, where work on the second runway seems to have started as well.
In that case, we could have received MCT as it currently is, and HKG without the second part of the terminal — or even without the second terminal altogether, since it hasn’t been completed yet.
But in any case, the developers know more than we do, and whatever decisions they make, they are clearly considering future development and what approach works best
ZRH has many train and tram tracks around it, so I hope we can get all of them with their proper trains when it comes out, like we have seen with airports in times past.
