I think that someone asked Devs through Discord about any future plan for playable airports in Western-Asia (Ex-soviet countries basically) and they said “yes, specially a big cargo hub for the region” which everybody asumed as GYD the one that Devs was talking about…
Yup, only thing is that was two years ago and no further mention. Still feels like a good candidate but nothing recent suggests it is in the cards immediately.
@CJ_RVWilliams I am pretty sure, if we were to get a seal plane it would be something like a twin-otter float.
@Restrepo, GYD is a small airport with no large cargo infrastructure. However, I won’t be mad if that was an airport to be added because of how yiou can recieve european and asian airliners and it is small too
I’m also curious to see how ZRH develops so that the airport will also match the layout in the near future; perhaps PRG will be developed in the same or similar way. ![]()
Does anyone know if the Apron W is gonna be available in ZRH???
I personally find the “we have 3 US airports” argument tiresome. The USA is a diverse country in terms of its people, landscape, etc. Right now we have a Pacific Seaboard airport in SAN, an Atlantic Seaboard hub in IAD, and a gulf coast hub in MSY. We have no airports in the Great Lakes states, American Interior, Pacific Northwest, or any of the non-continental regions (Hawaii, Guam, Alaska, Puerto Rico, etc). I don’t think that being inside a country is a good reason to write off an airport - instead I would hope the devs focus on strong airports for connections and features being implemented.
ANC is the busier cargo airport and (arguably more important to transpacific routes) and Lake Hood is the busiest seaplane base in the world.
I flew through YVR this spring for the first time on a work trip in Vancouver and was very impressed by the city and airport. It’s a beautiful location with a nice variety of airplanes and an interesting layout that would be different than what we have right now in WoA. Having a hub for more Canadian airlines would be a great addition as well.
For seaplanes and cargo though… ANC is the place where those features could be more impactful, and while I hope to see YVR eventually… I think it would be better served after.
I’m really curious about PRG too. I don’t think we’ll get the new runway (that won’t happen until late-2040’s realistically), but I’m hoping for the Terminal 2 southern expansion and stands reconfiguration, which will significantly increase wide-body capacity and should happen by 2033.
Would love to somehow be able to help develop the 737 fleet. Would be amazing to see that roll out sometime soon. Maybe right after the A340s??? Fingers crossed the rollout happens soon
737s are still a ways out.
The thing i would love to see next is an airport with a more interesting layout rather than the standard square runway either side of a terminal layout (unless it’s something huge like LAX with multiple runways and terminals).
Something with either runways going everywhere or places with choke points or bottle necks which make more interesting and strategic in regards to having to think of where planes are going. Most new airports now are built more with efficiency in mind so I guess options are limited on that really
AMS, MAN, ORD, JFK, FRA spring to mind
Doesn’t even look like any US airports are going to be looked at until next year. Wow this blows. Why rework three airports in Europe in a row?
If you check this: What’s coming in the future?
You see the a340 next
- 747 variants
- l410 (didnt hear a lot about it)
737 alot of work and i hope end 2026 to see
Speculations are maybe end of the year…![]()
Yeah, just saying it would be cool to be part of the WoA team and move them along somehow. Would be neat to do renderings or something
Take that 737 excitement and put it on the 747 Classics as they’re coming next
. 747-300 I cannot wait for lmao
Anchorage is probably the single most talked about airport out there. See my above message here.
Yeah, it’s cool & all, don’t get me wrong. 747s and A340s just aren’t as widely used. Looking forward to more of the airframes that are seen on a regular basis IRL being updated.
Perhaps that’s how it is for you, but I know that many like me want to see iconic aircraft like the Tri-Star, the older variants of the B747, the B727, B717, and the older Airbuses, I’m sure of it.
Virgin Nigeria, Arik Air A340 and Kam Air (For MCT and non EU airports) is what I’m hoping for ![]()
