Hi everyone,
It’s been a while, but a few things to talk about here.
First, check out dev blog 24 , when it comes to fruition that’s going to look really cool I must say, getting excited for that.
Now down to topics for this talk. You may have seen a few changes in the standard threads. The main goal was to try and clean up multiple threads aligning to the same thing. There’s more work to do there. But the Airport life section now has Screen Shot and Conversations for every airport currently in the game. I hope they get used in the way I hope for conversation and support across members. As we say in my house. Fingers toes and 4 paws crossed.
@ukplanespotter757 and I are looking at how we can clean up the aircraft livery and airport destination threads in the near future, but it’s quite a bit of work and we haven’t decided whether to go “Greenfield” aka new start or “Brownfield” aka clean up the old threads yet. More soon on that front.
The other topic I wanted to cover is updates. Just this week I’ve had to calm expectations of all manner of things that could end up in the next updates and I want to make something very clear to everyone.
What the devs say on Q&A and streaming sessions should NEVER be taken as what is going to happen as fact. While that seems odd to say, so many times in the 5 years I’ve played this game, things have been canceled, moved around, moved up etc. there is simply no guarantee it’s going to happen unless Kuba or one of his team states specifically that it’s going to happen, like a bug fix will be in 2.5.2 for example. I’ve even seen items that were guaranteed to be an update and published, be moved out at the last minute.
What I am trying to say is, stop assuming and stop hanging on every post, comment or teaser that the devs make. It’s not set in stone, and it’s these types of assumptions that gets everyone upset when it doesn’t happen.
Things like the infamous 767, Alliances, and more get people fired up because they want them in the game. Don’t get me wrong I do too. But I’m also a realist, understand how long these take to do and the size of the team doing them. This isn’t Rockstar or Microsoft, these guys have turned a hobby game into something quite incredible for the team putting it together. There is a roadmap and they will tease pieces of it every so often, to keep everyone interested, but that’s all it is. First rule of business roadmaps. Don’t tell your customers the exact plan. Because that gets you into trouble big time…
So please before saying “it’s going to be in the next update” and I want this , that and the other. Think about it before you say it, don’t start multiple threads on it and search for previous related topics. That would make us very happy…
