Description of the Bug:
Following the updates to the A321 variants in 3.6.3, the A321 is now using the L2 door for boarding/deboarding. In reality, this is only done at FRA and MUC and A321s will almost always use the L1 door for boarding and deboarding, unlike the 757. This is due to the clearance issues with the aircraft’s engine.
Steps to Reproduce:
View and A321 whilst it’s being handelled.
Just updated my game and found this out. Quite unrealistic I would say, only Lufthansa use this method at MUC I think. There is a simple flying article about it and it said that the L2 door isn’t really used due to the risk of collision with engine or the wing. Would hope they revert this back to the L1 door for better realism!
I’m still thinking it could make for a cool random chance event. Every say 10 or 20 planes will load this way. It’s realistic at least even if rare so why not make it that way . Would love some more irl variety with the likes of the 757 and 767s like this.
The A321 features both Business and Economy Class. Since airlines generally avoid having Economy passengers pass through the Business Class cabin during boarding and deboarding, the Aircraft Team decided to enable deboarding via the L2 door.
The thing with that is though, it’s unrealistic for most airlines as only Lufthansa do that. I’ve never seen an A321 using the L2 door in person, and as mentioned clearance with the engine is a major factor here, plus the fact the L2 door is slightly smaller than the L1 door and mainly considered an emergency exit like L3.
Especially when you consider most A321s don’t actually have proper business cabins, or if they do it’s only a few rows at the front. It didn’t need changing as it was realistic before the update, and now it’s been changed to be unrealistic? Quite a contrast from the games normally realistic handling procedures. The only narrow bodies to have L2 boarding is 757s.
In that case, it would be cool if boarding changed depending on the configuration. If there are 10 or more Business Class seats, boarding would be at L2; fewer Business Class seats = boarding at L1.
Or something like that.
I might be in a heavy minority here Charlie but any chance now it’s modelled it could be made a chance addition, so every so often one will deplane on that door?
This would be great for all aircraft with 2 jetways as some airports / airlines sometimes only use one jetway attached to the L1 or L2 door even if 2 jetways are present. A random chance factor could be great to allow single jetway connection, etc
I have another question… same topic, different plane. I know there are different versions of the B767-300, some with an L2 door and some without. But if there are versions like that, where do you board? Player planes always have that second door…
