Location (City, Country)
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Airport Type & Size
AEP would be a medium-sized but high-frequency single-runway airport with a high regional transport share (A220, E-Jets, B737, A320). The cramped location right on the water (Río de la Plata) and the only relatively short piste (2,100 m) would ensure a challenging and unique gaming experience.
Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
AEP is not just another airport. It is a mid-range hub with the complexity of a major airport thanks to its single runway challenge and stunning location. It would fill a gap in World of Airports’ geographical offerings and provide an unforgettable and challenging gaming experience.

Unique Features or Challenges
High-Stakes Location: The airport is located on an artificial peninsula directly on the Río de la Plata. Pilots have little room for takeoffs and landings on the Runway 13/31 - at the end of the track the deep water immediately begins.Stunning Urban Approach: Since the airport is located in the middle of Buenos Aires city center, the approach leads spectacularly close to the skyscrapers. This definitely offers one of the best in-game backdrops in the whole game…
Mixed Traffic: The combination of huge Airbus A330 for long-haul flights, standard jets such as the B737 and small private jets from the General Aviation ensure a varied and dynamic traffic flow.
Crosswind Risk: Due to its location on the huge river, the airport is often exposed to strong and unpredictable winds, which makes landings (especially for smaller regional airlines).
Here are also a few points for the surrounding area…
The Waterfront Setting: The airport is almost completely surrounded by the waters of the Río de la Plata. The “Costanera Norte” waterfront promenade runs directly parallel to the runway, which definitely creates a unique photo point in the game.
Skyline Integration: When departing south, the planes fly directly over the banking district and the skyscrapers of Puerto Madero. This contrast between the dense city and the open water is visually impressive.
Estadio Monumental: The world-famous River Plate stadium is located on the direct access route and is a striking point of reference for pilots.
Tierra Santa: A small theme park right next to the airport site that looks very striking from the air.
Night Lighting: Since the airport is located in the middle of the metropolis of millions, it offers a sea of lights made of city lighting on one side at night and the absolute darkness of the river on the other.
The “Green Belt”: Directly adjacent are the parks of Palermo (Bosques de Palermo), which form a green contrast to the gray asphalt of the Runway.
