Amsterdam Airport Schiphol - Wikipedia

  • 36L/18R furthest runway has separate tower and firestation. Is used as 1 of 2 prefered runways. 18r is used as arrival and 36l as departure because the runway exits.
  • 36c/18c will be used in all directions. If not in use will be crossed in center for 36l/18r.
  • 36r/18l have intersection with 27/09 and can both in use. For example b737 takeoff also before intersection.
  • 27/09 takeoff both sides. Arrival only 27
  • 24/06 arrivals both sides. Departures only 24. Is one of 2 preferred runways
  • 04/22 both sides are used for arrival and departure most general aviation but i have seen 777 takeoff from there aswell. 04 arrival is spectaculair low turn Final above runway 36r.

Divert runway 27 to 24 is also nice arrival.
Different planes arrived at eham like an225 and the a330-743.

Great airport suggestion but there are a few concerns I have if AMS gets the green light from the Dev’s.

  1. The main issue I have with this airport is devices slowing down and lagging at this airport. As I experienced at BKK and LHR with my old device every time I zoomed out it lagged a bit especially when the airport is flooded with aircraft (like I have all time) and given AMS is mega and has 6 runways it could be a problem with many devices that lags a lot when empty or won’t even work with older devices. I understand that it’s a mobile game but these kind of features are like PC levels and if this airport gets the go ahead to develop I’m worried that older devices may not be compatible of running AMS meaning more storage on devices and forcing old device users to upgrade there phone which costs money.

  2. Like LHR the airport with over 100-200 stands the airport will most likely be empty meaning less realism in the process, I know it has been fixed at MCT, LEJ and BKK where both runways are both takeoffs and landing but AMS are restricted to 3 runways that is unless if all 3 runways are both takeoffs and landings the airport would be empty or half full.

  3. Here’s a obvious one, since it’s a large airport it costs A LOT of wollers (not to mention equipment costs, handling costs and aircraft costs) 10,000 is clearly not enough at the start of the airport (yes I know there are levels which can give you more wollers but they should be more generous of the wollers rewards if you ask me)

I could list all my concerns but these are the biggest so far, I know everyone wants this airport to come but since we have so much large airport over the past 2 years that I think devices can’t handle the airport unless it made drastic changes in the scenery (which would make the airport look worse).
Can someone please shed some light into these points, any response is welcome.

  1. I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, this is not a problem. Devs have made a 2d mode that requires 0 graphics which can run every airport without heating up. The Devs even agree with this as Kubasan liked my previous mode talking about how 2d mode negates performance issues.

  2. Not really, AMS could use 4 runways as only 2 intersect. This means 18/36L, 18/36C and 18/36R could be used as well as 24/06. Similarly to IAD.

  3. Not really an issue, Devs could simply just give more money at the start or give more starting stands

exact same issue is for ICN then

AMS prefers to use runway 06-24 for approaching aircraft and runway 18R-36L for departures. In off-peak hours those two are normally in use. During peak hours it’s usually three runways, but sometimes four (see screenshot of Friday configuration at 1pm)

Even with four runways in use it would not have to include crossing active runways as departing airplanes would taxi around 18C-36C and 09-27 won’t be used when 18L-36R is used for arrivals. So you could fill up the stands quite rapidly I guess if you have 2 runways available for arrivals and two for departures.

Runway 04-22 is mainly used by GA, only with stormy weather (SW) they’ll use it for some of the approaching aircraft.

Should the feature of rotating/changing runways ever come into WoA, then this Schiphol | Noise and runway combinations can be used to create a realistic combination of runways.

You see also alot 18r approach, 24 takeoff. With 2 other runways as second.

I have also seen 27 and 36r both as approach.
Also 27 approach and 18l as takeoff can be used.

In windy condition its also possible only 27 is used as only runway (takeoff and depart).

Aircraft taking off from runway 24 and arriving runway 18R is indeed quite normal, with southerly wind. Screenshot from Friday was with normal northerly wind conditions. Can’t remember the last time I saw planes departing from 09-27 in person.

AMS is one of those airports that needs developers to bring in alternative directions due to weather/peak hours for it to work really realistic in WoA

Yes! This airport is really big center of Europe. It has to be voted!

Check this website for AMS runway operation… I was confused about the runway operation as well but this makes it clear.

10may is bad date to take as example because 1 runways maintenance ended that day and other is for long time (till 28 sept 2025) under maintenance

I have viewed previous dates, thinking the operation with 06, 36R for landing and 36L, 36C for takeoff… Or 18C, 18R for landing and 18L, 24 for takeoff is the one we should consider in the game?

Don’t know what we could do with the rest two runways, though.

Hopefully by the time AMS is released
We can choose which direction we want for departures/arrivals
Would also be cool if the game would randomize it according to the METAR

I think devs are working on this…?

Suppose the most optimized for me is 18C, 18R and 22(for smaller planes only) for landing and 18L, 24 for take off. Don’t know if that is possible for a realistic operation…
