I am advocating for local and regional widebody routes(for hub airlines) to be added to the game. I know this is a known issue and the devs are trying to find a workaround to fix it but there has been no official feature request for it so I decided why not. I also want to share my idea on how I think it could be fixed
How would it work in the game?
My idea is that maybe these widebody routes can just be on select major cities, and not just on every single one for the sake of not breaking the economy or speeding up progression too much. Using HKG as an example(as itās the airport that suffers the most from this) you would only be able to get them from major local and regional routes like SIN, HAN, ICN, TPE, KIX, BKK, SGN and major cities in China like PEK, PVG, XMN, HGH, and even maybe CAN. While it wouldnāt completely take away the problem because some smaller cities would still get left out it is at least a step in the right direction and solves it to an extent.
Why is this a good idea?
This would help realism greatly! This is applicable to every airport outside the first 3, sxm, and cnn. It especially affects the newer airports like syd, bkk, and hkg, where we are forced to come up with fictional routes due to these limitations. It also affest the usefulness of larger aircraft like the 767, 773, a306 and 757, as local airlines in the game like british airways, united, thai airways, qantas, and cathay pacific used to fly them on short haul routes, even domestically. So yes this would be greatly appreciated

Totally agree. Itās a pity seeing the worldās busiest HKG to TPE route only served by CX A21N in WOA while in reality you would see all kinds of CX wide bodies in that route.
HKG is amazing so far, but yeah, this is definitely a huge thing we are missing. Having made the real routes guide for HKG, it honestly made me kind of sad labeling most of the CX wide body contracts as āunobtainableā in game by putting them in bold. This is definitely a problem for other airports too, outside of HKG. I honestly would even be okay if they made the close wide-body contracts regional or international, the big thing is just having them be present in the game.
No I fully agree with what you say. Like it would be fine to make them regional or even iternational, it would just be nice to have the option to get them

Yeah exactly! That was my thought too. Cathay Pacificās fleet has 143 widebodies and only 16 narrows as of right now. Almost every local route is served by an A330 in real life, so maybe there is a feature added where the local widebodies become available at a certain point in the game
I understand why such routes are not available to prevent players getting access to a quick progress button but I do wish we had the available such as the shorter haul 757 routes like in Europe. I think it should be something implemented after, say, international routes have been unlocked, so we can recreate the routes without gaining the unfair advantage.
I think if they can develop it so for one airline they have different levels of contracts that would be a massive benefit.
Say HKG-PVG. Cathay a321 is a local contract but then the A333 is regional and then maybe 350/777/747 is international. I would be completely fine with that as your still having to grind a lot to get to level 28 for regional and then you really get the benefits for international.
Same for other airlines again letās take HKG-PVG and Air China. Regional options can be their narrow body fleet. But then when we lock international we then get access to the wide-bodies on that route. So it works in the same way but keeps to the theory of the non local airlines starting as regional which I completely agree with
A possible workaround could be to reclass CX and TG as āRegionalā airlines at HKG an BKK respectively. This would allow for shorter range widebody flights as suggested.
Whilst I acknowledge that HKG and BKK are the hubs for CX and TG, personally Iād be happy to grind through the initial levels with local LCC airlines to be able to have realistic widebody routes later on.
This common issue can occur at any city-state location, including major airports like HKG and SIN as well as smaller ones such as BWN and MFM. Iām eagerly awaiting the ability to choose this option, even if it means a slight reduction in SP and XP gains as a trade-off.
I honestly think this deserves its own suggestion because I see this as the perfect compromise. It doesnāt totally break the economy by making progression too fast while at the same time allowing player to get the realistic routes they want. I hope the devs see this because this would for sure be a win-win for everyone and I would love to see it in game.
