What is your suggestion?
To speed up the amount of time it takes for an aircraft to leave the runway at ZRH(particularly RWY 14) How would it work in the game?
Perhaps enable high speed taxiing off the runway, or allow planes to land as soon as an aircraft leaves the runway instead of waiting for it to reach the line(which I know isn’t too realistic, but could still help)
Why is this a good idea?
I believe this is kind of similar to suggestions made in the past, but I feel like ZRH needs to be highlighted, because it is the airport that in my opinion, suffers the most from this. Runway 14 arrivals take way too long as of now with C sized planes taking about 80 seconds to leave before the next one can land. And it doesn’t help that this is the main configuration and rwy 14 is the only landing one (although 28 should be departures and arrivals, but that’s another suggestion for another day) Optional: Image or reference
While on the subject, I’d like to see a change regarding Zurich operations: if an aircraft is landing on Runway 14, another shouldn’t be prevented from taking off on Runway 16; there’s no need for this restriction regarding jet blast or wake turbulence. Another cause of delays involves the procedure after an aircraft clears the active runway—specifically when landing on Runway 14 and exiting at the Runway 32 end; the system currently waits until the aircraft reaches the Runway 28 intersection before allowing the next one to land. You can observe this delay if you operate manually. It would be great if some tests could be run and this restriction removed. I really like the Zurich airport, but this detail could be improved—much like at GRU, where the next takeoff is permitted as soon as the landing aircraft is exiting the runway. This logic could be reconsidered and removed, as real-world restrictions only apply to simultaneous landings and takeoffs. Thanks in advance for discussing this issue. Best regards to the entire WOA community.
As much as I don’t like this restriction, I think I read somewhere IRL it’s to avoid situations if an aircraft goes around during landing while another is taking off as they will paths cross at the end of the runway
GRU is different though as take off clearance is given once the landing aircraft touches down.
In that scenario I do agree that take off clearance could be given once the landing aircraft spawns in
