Hi - does anyone know how gates are auto assigned, assume random?
Feels like half the time my most profitable planes are in the most obscure corner of the airport whereas my smaller planes are closer to the runway (again, could be random but just checking).
It was alphabetical order but if I’m correct its changed to be more random.
Exactly, by random. Personally, I’ve noticed at larger airports that certain gates are used more frequently than others, and I’ve also noticed that a plane belonging to another player keeps using the same gate. But I think that was pure luck. in general, however, I can say that it is much better and more realistic than before. If you can now “edit” gates and therefore move certain sizes to certain gates, it would be perfect. But that’s not the topic here

I think the order is predetermined on all airports, but instead of assigning gate 1,2,3,4,5,6,… is goes gate 7,4,8,1,3,…
I’ve noticed this a while ago when playing LHR and I let my 30 or so A388’s get assigned their gates. The planes always use the same exact stands. I notice it especially with a ‘special colored’ A388 that flies to DFW always was assigned stand 406. This has nothing to do with the destination or so, but because I handle my planes in banks they always come back in the same order and all arrive at an empty airport, and without any diversion it happens time and time again. I notice the same at BKK and SYD. All my planes get put at certain gates (sometimes my BKK-SYD plane gets assigned gate 1 instead of 4 and my BKK-LHR 4 instead of 1, but it’s always the same in the same order).
So I am quite convinced the order is predetermined, but they just shuffled the order to make the airport more alive, which I think is a great improvement

I personally dont use that feature unless its IAD given that certain airline have different areas of the gates. And for example LHR where theres 4 terminals. I assign based on airline. And for other airports. Its because of domestic and international arrivals ao i keep domestic at the domestic section.
yes that’s what I’d like to happen - terminal 4 has very obvious Arabic airlines IRL and BA for terminal 5 obviously but its a lot of management. it’s not even close to real life, I feel like everything just goes to terminal 4 first
