I’m a beginner and have now unlocked all stands on PRG airport.
I currently have 76 contracts so that’s almost maximum without buying extra.
Most of them are type C, a few D and E
What I notice and don’t like that much is that usually only around 10 stands are occupied, the rest of the planes (most of the time like around 20 - 30) are waiting to land or are in line for takeoff (sometimes like 10 - 15).
Most of the time I use automatic tower control for departure and approach with 1 - 1 sequence. I also try 1 - 2 and 2 - 1 but this not solves the ‘problem’. In my opinion the plane handling time for type C planes is to short compared to the time for take off and landing.
I just like to have a full airport, like 2 / 3 of the stand occupied every time
Do I do something wrong? Do you have some tips? Or is this just normal for this airport because of the many type C flights?
I personally don’t usually like to take off the planes, so what I would do instead is to land a lot of planes with the auto ATC, and then handle them when some or all of them are at the stands. When you happen to have a lot of traffic pending to take off, I just change airport and come back immediately, so all of the planes take off automatically. This is not the most realistic thing to do, but it works for me relieving the take off traffic.
If you handle every plane each time it reaches a stand, it’s really difficult to keep 2/3 occupied stands at nearly every airport.
This is normal at most airports, and it’s only made worse by PRG’s single runway and longer taxi times. As a PRG player myself, I also do the same thing as @Matejake and it works reasonably well. Also, how many handling crew are you using? If you use only the minimum needed that can make the airport feel just a little bit more full, but of course handling takes much longer.
And thank you for your help, so now I know that I’m not doing something wrong.
At the moment I unlocked IAD and going to build this one. Right now I already see that more runways is much better to have good balance between plane handling - approach - departure.
@DenisMartinek I use the minimum handling crew on a plane, so with type C that’s most of the time 1 less than maximum.
