In our Alliance we have pioneered a concept for a smooth close down of airports while keeping continuity in the contracts with players.
It is called Hub Relay (HuRl). When you close down your airport you can make agreements with (an) other player(s) to take over your incoming contracts. Players can “hop” from the airport you are closing to a same airport of another player(s). When a contract expires, it can be renewed at the other airport with no need to reconfigure the seating. This provides continuity in gameplay.
As I am closing down my GRU operations existing contracts can be renewed for @Eskilb ‘s GRU (IGN Mjolnir Air).
