I thought it was
I wonder if IADâs stands will be corrected in 3.0
Wdym? İf you mean sharing multi stands kuba said first updates will be on prg and iad but didnt give any date
Found the generic airports announcement to be very interesting. My two cents on what âgeneric airportsâ will be is that they probably will just throw a plain square terminal building (think old style IAD) with gates/stands on top of a google maps image. Their new taxi/runway system is probably pretty easy to implement now and they can copy and paste a lot of that code for 1-runway airports that donât involve runway crossings or intersections. They wonât be pretty with 3D landscapes, or maybe even have accurate stand placements and numbers.
But imagine to be able to play your local âsmallerâ airport that you know so well⌠thatâd be so cool, even if it isnât super pretty like the other airports.
I donât see this working for large airports until they get feedback from the community, it will probably get too complicated. I think this method can work great for smaller airports like the size of INN or BRI or maybe at largest SAN or PRG and they can continue to build large airports at the amazing quality they have been.
Looking forward to see what comes of this!
I wasnât on the dev blogs so from what I saw here Iâm asking
But IAD still has the old configuration that only L planes can stand at the A/B gates and only M at the C/D
Whereas in real life, United parks at the C/D gates with mix of S/M/L planes and the rest of the operators park at A/B
And thereâs also some jetbridges missing so thatâs why I wonder
I definitely see that change coming, at least in the C/D concourse theyâll add L (D/E now?) stands. A/B concourse will probably have split stands added to make it a little more realistic, but I donât think theyâll add the strictly S/M (B/C now?) at the western end of B since they wonât take away playerâs L/XL stands they purchased. Toeing the line between realistic and not upsetting players for taking away something they had and are used to.
Plus the Z gates are missing the jet bridges.
On the question officially announced Beta testing of 3.0, I have found nothing in the DevChat and Discord session.
The confusion may come from this remark from Kuba:
Other subject.
Ahhhh didnât see the question lmao
There was a lot of text, but it caught my attention because of the somewhat strange reference.
I think I saw on the DevBlog that it will dropping between now and the end of March.
Itâs definitely best to avoid speculation on the release date. At the end of the day it will only cause disappointment if itâs not out by then.
Let the devs make sure the update is ready and enjoyable for everyone to play.
No it isnât. Itâs in alpha testing not beta.
What would generic airports do to the progression of the game? With the current system, youâd never be able to unlock all the airports if they came out, say monthly, or not without a massive hit in GP. It also takes away how special these airports are. New airports are often played the most of all the airports, and it would be hard to get exited over something thatâs a frequent drop.
It feels like you can be active in a significant chunk of airports right now. If we get too many too fast I feel like Iâd have to ignore certain airports. Never play them, never unlock them.
Uh, guys (and gals),
This discussion on âgenericâ airports is quite interesting for the purpose of giving your thoughts.
But there are already more words spent on it than there will be airports. The devs have floated an idea and indicated that a lot need to be done before it can be implemented.
It is true that the devs are listening to the community, but with above stated, there isnât a lot to listen to.
I have faith in the devs to do what is good for the game and any implementation will be thought out with consideration to a lot of conditions.
It can even be scrapped or postponed because new ideaâs and features take precedence. This has happened before.
And even when it comes, the golden advice is given in this thread:
âDonât play themâ.
Donât go into too much detail
Additional guidance would be, donât take everything mentioned by the devs in literal terms. Sure they tease new things and many have come to fruition but also many have not.
Just because they talk about it, doesnât mean itâs immediately going to happen. Alliance functionality is a prime example of that. And those that remember the old portal of ideas, there was a litany of ideas that have gone nowhere even 5 years later.
We all want new stuff but that takes time and the devs are trying to balance upgrading the game without killing the ability of devices to handle it and providing updates on a regular basis.
They have said Q1, thatâs say 6-7 weeks. Donât be surprised if it drops into Q2. To get it right they need to take as long as they need and limit any bugs. What would you rather have? Quicker updates but buggy ones or less updates and a smoother game experienceâŚ
Devs are in a tough position with this, so we need to cut them a bit of slack in that regard and I think their idea about the more generic airports is a way to keep content moving while working on other stuff and to slow down those who seem to be able to finish new airports in a matter of a couple of weeks when they take 4 months plus to produce
As an admin Iâm excited to see the next generation of the game and all the community interaction that will come with it. As a player Iâm trying to keep an open mind about all the changes comingâŚ
What will be great useful is the amount of ramp agents by either unlocking terminals or a stand, not all with 1 ramp agent, like terminals should unlock also loke 4-6 ramp agents as example instead of 1 and a heavy like 2-3 agents etcâŚ
Never spend any money on this game as lost 3 airports and massive stars on an update your loss
