Dev Chat February 2025

I do hope some more information on this mentioned at some point, you can’t fault the logic behind the idea as it adds more airports to spread out with, plus means people get more airports to keep people interested, but it’s just the end result and what happens after that which is my primary concern. I guess the best thing to do is take it as we read it, but wait until anything more concrete about the idea is mentioned, stuff we can make a better judgement off, like one of those generic airports previews for example.

I think there’s some great ideas being put forward from the team and it looks like the games heading in the right direction. I was never keen on 2.0 UI and features after 1.0 however, after playing again for a while now I really enjoy it. So I’m not going to fault 3.0 before getting the chance to give it a go. However, I really hope they don’t reset airport XP again like they did going into 2.0. If they do I just hope it’s not as much as a grind as it is currently. (I have just read in the dev blog gameplay will remain intact) which is a nice feature .

I am very serious about that for sure and I agree with you guys.

I suppose if devs use this as a method to find potential airports, people will stick to the biggest ones and their local ones (I would only play my hometown airport and my local airport here in cuz why not? But seeing other airports in the same layout isn’t something I’d like to see) so it is never going to work.

The winner will always be the biggest (and probably most famous) ones and airports in cities with the most people.

We used to have a dashboard (feedback portal) with votes on potential airport and let’s simply bring that back in the game, it works better, maybe?

Currently, there are over 1.6 million players worldwide and at the current rate they will be over 2 million this time next year. And a very small fraction of these players are on this forum (or on discord). That being said, I can all but guarantee that the most popular airport is likely not one that is being requested by one of us.

I have serious respect for what the developers have done in the advancement of this game. And they are way more attentive to us than most developers… honestly, I think I’ve become a bit spoiled by Kuba et al.

I trust the developers vision… I’m simply happy to go along for the ride.

Also, thanks to my fellow aviation enthusiasts on this forum. This community is an important part of what makes this game so enjoyable.

It will not. There was not a similar leveling system in 1.0, so they weren’t resetting, they were adding something new. 3.0 will not change the gameplay so that won’t happen

For anyone who can check, was anything about the airline partnership mentioned in the q&a?

They just said work with airline co is totally “different world”

I belive 3.0 will be next or even this week because there is carnival in Brazil now.

Just wait quietly, it can only be said that it’s not far away✈️

I know you’re excited, but can you please stop saying when you think stuff will come out? It’s been mentioned before and it goes against what the mods have been trying to curb. It only serves to, at best, just be ignored and wrong, and at worst, get people riled up with false excitement and thinking that it has some fact to it.

A new game? Is this new information for everyone, or did I miss something and overlook it?
Or did I misunderstand? :frowning_with_open_mouth:

This also doesn’t make much sense to me, at the end of the day it would take longer to make a generic airport model then make a replacement high end airport model than just working on the high end model to begin with

Another point: how would a new player feel if their local airport is added only to find out it’s a unrealistic “generic” model? I imagine this would certainly make many players turn away from the game as they would believe that all the airports are like that.

Also the community has shown that high quality is what they value, current most played airport according to my monthly polls is IAD, a remodel with the main thing it brought being higher standard of graphics for IAD

Generic airports is not a good idea at all.

I know I would be disappointed if an airport I wanted to see (Such as Manchester or Tenerife South) was added and wasn’t very good compared to what we currently have, and then you’ve got to rely on the community voting for it to be updated to current standards doesn’t sit right with me. If you are going to add an airport, just do it properly the first time, not only does it future proof it but avoids the cycle of airports which will end up being forgotten over time.

I think the devs already have a rough plan of what large airports they will add, such as CPT, TPE, AMS, ANC, etc.

The generic airports might be the platform they use to choose smaller airports, say MSY-sized or smaller. Hopefully many unique airports will be put forward by the community.

I think it could be an idea that the generic airports are just 2d maps of the airport. So we can just play them in 2d, but they’re exact to the irl airport and taxiway systems. The thing that feels a bit weird about the generic airports (from what I understand) is that they will resemble for example FRA, but the terminals and general layout aren’t an exact match to real life. I could life with the textures not being 100%, but I wouldn’t really like that the layout isn’t the same as irl

This is the thing, from what’s been said it leaves more to be concerned about as it’s a very basic description, all we know is they are quicker to make, will have the general gameplay features, and won’t be completely accurate. I would be very interested in seeing what this is actually like, just got to hope the execution of the concept is far better than the way it sounds.

If it’s the airports bases as we have them now, so aprons, stands and taxiways are all correct and as they are with the enhanced textures to make it stand out over a 2D map then I could live with a slightly inaccurate terminal assuming it would be upgraded to normal standards eventually, but that there is another concern with this proposed system.

This is exactly what I’m scared of if they add a generic airport from Canada. Honestly, it doesn’t seem like they’re very far into the process so think they should do a fan vote on whether to even do it at all. I’d rather wait for the 4 months for a high quality airport than get some of my favourite airports but their quality is bad.

Not in a million years will it be next week. 3.0 has so much in it, that it will absolutely need to be beta tested and that hasn’t even begun yet.
