Dual-Use Airports (Civil & Military)

Adding dual-use airports to World of Airports would bring a unique and realistic layer to gameplay. These airports support both civilian airlines and active military operations, allowing for a mix of commercial and military traffic in the same environment. Players could manage not only standard airline operations but also experience the occasional appearance of aircraft like the Eurofighter Typhoon (EFA), Airbus A330 MRTT (tanker), C-130 Hercules, or C-17 Globemaster — enhancing immersion and variety.

In Europe, several key examples stand out:

Trapani–Birgi (Italy) – Ryanair hub with Italian Air Force Eurofighters
Pisa Airport (Italy) – Civilian terminal and home to the 46th Air Brigade operating C-130s
Leeuwarden Air Base (Netherlands) – Hosts fighter jets and occasional civil traffic
Prestwick Airport (UK) – Handles charter flights and military transports like the C-17
Cologne Bonn (Germany) – Lufthansa cargo and German Air Force A310/A400M tankers
Rzeszów–Jasionka (Poland) – Civil airport that now supports NATO logistics and military traffic

These airports offer dynamic operations, varied aircraft types, and realistic logistical challenges — making them ideal candidates to enrich the World of Airports experience.

In the game we have military aircraft that you could acquire at the different airports in the game.

Yes, but they’re just cargo planes, nothing more. I mean fighter jets like the Eurofighter Typhoon, F/A-18, or F-22; tanker aircraft like the A330 MRTT or A400M; reconnaissance planes like the Boeing E-2. You could also include bombers like the B-2 Spirit or B-52 Stratofortress, and electronic warfare aircraft like the EA-18G Growler.

If you would like to suggest these, please make a post for each airport under the new features airports section. Thanks!
