DUB - Dublin 🇮🇪

:round_pushpin: Airport Name and ICAO/IATA Code
Dublin Airport (ICAO: EIDW/ IATA: DUB)

:globe_showing_europe_africa: Location (City, Country)
Collinstown, Santry, Dublin, Ireland

:chart_increasing: Airport Type & Size
A medium sized airport, with 3 runways, 2 terminals and roughly 32 million Pax a year

:vertical_traffic_light: Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
I believe it’s is a suitable airport in Northwestern Europe, as it has some unique features that I think could be a huge hit if it was added and this airport was added. (but I’ll get to that in just a moment). It also opens the door for more C class aircraft to fly across the Atlantic to North America.

:airplane_departure: Major Airlines & Routes
DUB is home to irish flag carrier Aer Lingus, it’s also a hub for one of Europe’s largest low cost airline Ryanair. TUI Airways has also a strong hub there flying mainly to holiday destinations. (Soon to be TUI Airways Netherlands)

Below are the busiest routes out of DUB based on passenger numbers. A passenger statistics pic is also attached here.

  • London Heathrow :united_kingdom: (Aer Lingus, British Airways)
  • London Gatwick :united_kingdom: (Ryanair, British Airways (seasonal)
  • Amsterdam :netherlands: (Aer Lingus, Ryanair, KLM)
  • Manchester :united_kingdom: ( Aer Lingus, Ryanair, Emerald Airlines)
  • Birmingham :united_kingdom: (Aer Lingus, Ryanair, Emerald Airlines)
  • London Stansted :united_kingdom: (Ryanair)
  • Frankfurt :germany: (Aer Lingus, Lufthansa)
  • Paris (CDG) :france: (Aer Lingus, Air France, ASL Airlines)
  • Edinburgh :united_kingdom: (Ryanair, Aer Lingus, Emerald Airlines)
  • Málaga :spain: (Aer Lingus, TUI Airways, Ryanair)

:world_map: Unique Features or Challenges
Dublin has a restriction on its North runway (28R/10L) opened from 7:00 to 23:00 due to noise issue in Swords a town near DUB which makes it unique feature to add, Runways also use in both directions (due to wind) which also is a big hit if it was added as seen in these pics.

Additionally some stands have a unique pushback method for example at the southern end of Pier D aircraft often push back and pull to the other end to start there engines or pulled to the north circle terminal nearby to start there engines, they can also be towed to either the West remote area (where Cargo, General Avation, ATC, Fire Station and the Irish Search and Rescue Helicopter are all based there) for parking or the Northern remote area near Pier D (used to be another one but was demolished to make way for the North Runway). There is lots of maintenance hangers which can be used and a new feature can be added where aircraft land into the airport for maintenance and leave empty. A list of hangers operaters are Aer Lingus, IAC (Painting aircraft’s) CityJet, Dublin Aerospace etc. Ryanair 737 MAX (and pretty much most 737 Max ) deliverys often use DUB as a stopover (or in Ryanair case is delivered)

:light_bulb:Facts about DUB
DUB is one of a few airports in the world that have US pre clearance meaning if you arrive into the US your flight can be treated as a domestic flight.
DUB has no rail connection to the city meaning if you want to use the rail system you have to take the bus to eather Dublin Connolly (goes to Drogheda, Sligo, Belfast, Bray, Wexford) or Dublin Hueston (goes to Waterford, Cork, Galway, Limerick lots of places)
DUB is the 13th busiest airport in Europe and the busiest airport not only in Ireland but also the entire Island.
The airport serves about 7,000 sandwiches, 5,000 hot dishes and 12,600 drinks daily.
DUB has a church outside of T1 (as seen of this pic)

T2 has one of the most unique architects if it’s added in game. At a cost of €1.2 billion Fingal Country Council imposed a 32 million passenger cap in return of the new terminal building built. (Now it’s suspended by the Irish courts) T2 was then open to the public in 2010

The mound at DUB is one of the attracts a lot of people so much in fact that DUB is looking to upgrade it.
