[Economy] No interesting uses for SP

Hi!

I’ve been searching for similar topics that address this, what I would call, “economy inconvenience”, but found no specific approach, so I’m going to share my point of view around this topic, celebrating that I’ve reached 1.000.000 Silver Planes today (yeehaa… :smiling_face_with_tear: ).

First, I want to make an ordered list of what I consider the best places to invest SP, from most to least interesting:

  1. Buying GP. This is by far, the most attractive thing to do with SP; period.
  2. Temporary activate ATC. I personally use this feature nearly always, but only landing at a mild pace category, so I can reduce SP waste and focus my efforts in other relevant things.
  3. Adding contract slots at an airport. Although this is kind of going somewhere in terms of giving a player something to use their currency, I very very rarely purchased this, as there’s not a lot of cases where you would need more contract capacity if you are not at small airports like INN.
  4. Temporary adding handlers. I personally think I’ve never used this items from the shop. Although it’s a good idea, they are just not consistent enough to be considered as options that attract players to use their currency.
  5. Buying map contracts before reaching regional or international milestone. I also think I’ve never used this feature, although I have to recognize this can be occasionally useful for arcade-type players (like I consider myself), at some slow-paced airports like SXM, where you could want to buy A124 map contracts (giving that they are the best in terms of XP per contract ratio).
  6. [NEW] Assigning more fleet planes to a destination. Despite being one of the latest’s additions to the game, changing GP usage for ridiculous SP amounts when you get to stack a couple of planes at a destination, it’s just not attractive. Don’t get me wrong, I feel the idea is good, but in reality, I don’t see many players stacking more than a couple of planes “just for the shake of it” and “to burn some SP in a random way”.
  7. Bypassing local and regional contract offer cooldowns. I’ve had to take a look at @TechnocraticAviation’s post inside WoA official Discord server’s #woa-faq forum post in order not to miss anything, so that answers how much this feature is used by me.
  8. Compensating deal manager in delayed handlings. (…same for this,…)
  9. Changing the flight number of airline contracts. (…and for this.)

Now, I want to suggest some ideas that come up to my mind, and that I think could improve the current state of this SP currency:

  • Purchasing colors with SP instead of GP. Although this could be pretty similar to the [NEW] feature (mentioned above) added recently, there are a lot of colors yet to be unlocked, and making players more free to customize their fleets… I just don’t see a downside! This could also be a good idea taking into account the incipient new plane liveries that are just about to land in WoA!
  • Daily tasks re-rol system. I know daily tasks are not implemented inside WoA, but this could be a nice “2 in 1” feature; it could help an interesting core feature come to the game as it enhances the SP value in terms of usability too.
  • Buy non-available fleet planes with high amounts of SP. For example, making posible to buy A124 for 10.000.000SP, as I know it’s quite broken in terms of XP rewards. I see this as positive because very veteran players could have a couple of them to help other players with their contracts. For sure, other more irrelevant models should be sold for half a million SP, and there could be the only way to get them (out of airport pass rewards). I think differentiating “““premium models””” from standard wollar models, could be an interesting thing to explore and ask the community. I want to know what you think.
  • Add some kind of reward multiplier to contract rewards. This is quite big to explain, but I see mainly two ways of setting this up. On the one hand, getting SP in a maxed airport is the only thing you get when completing contracts, but what if maxing airports you could say “hey, I don’t need SP, transform it to a +10% XP boost” (for example). On the other hand, you could pay an extra for each time you handle one of your fleet planes in time to the deal manager, let’s say, “take this little SP tip and give me 1XP bonus for this handle” (or maybe +10% bonus wollar boost, for example).
  • SP used in >> :star: ALLIANCES :star: <<. Yes, I’m so hyped with this coming into the game, I’ve heard rumors of this happening in 2026, i don’t know if they are true, but if this is happening, I see this as the PERFECT way to enhance SP use. Many BIG features could be added if alliances come to the game, some examples being, upgrading your “alliance hub” to boost member profits or whatever, upgrading the max. number of members in the alliance, and many more! There could be an alliance SP bank where all member could place their SP in little daily donations to help reach some SP amount and buy those alliance bonuses…
  • And many more…!

Finally, I want to encourage you all, enthusiastic and valuable players, to suggest as many ideas as you can imagine to make SP more useful than are right now.

I’ve loved typing this (specially at the end that, I got really excited as you could imagine  ), and hope you all have a nice day.

Thank you for the reading, I’ll read you back in the comments.

Oh I wish this was true for me… I’ve had to buy almost 100 slots at my BKK already and I only just maxed it out, so that’s a thing I guess :upside_down_face: I spend so much SP that I have a quite consistent balance and that’s a big reason why

And also, this should probably be in Feature requests > Gameplay , and I do believe some of the ideas you mentioned have been suggested already :slightly_smiling_face:

I actually do this quite frequently. It helps ramping up player contracts super early in starting the airport, so I’m almost always purchasing these the first two weeks or so of grinding, and then again later on when I’m building fleets at other airports.

I just don’t see the point. Sure, I can min max for the most total profit, but why? There’s a reason why we have the mantra in Orion: Wollars are meant to be wasted! I’ve never bought extra slots.I pretty much only send to player destinations though unless a plane doesn’t have any possible connections. I also don’t double up on AI routes. Since I fly to so few locations anyways, I want the AI routes I do keep to be as diverse as possible.

I did do a bit of SP lotto at HKG searching for D+ local cargo early on. Not sure If I’ll do that in the future though. It was nice to have more D cargo early but at the end of the day, I’m looking at several months before the next airport comes out and I’m done with HKG. Is the speedup in progression worth the months of not having an airport to play? Not sure… I guess it will depend on what the rolls look like. I’ve pretty much canceled every one of these contracts anyways. At least SP is common enough its meant to be wasted!

For your other points I pretty much use SP similarly.

Now to your ideas:

This is a a great idea. I love buying lots of colors as special liveries and I want to have airport specific liveries as well. This would be a great touch.

This is an interesting idea… but would you propose also switching Concordes and DH64s to this system for purchasing? I think that it wouldn’t make sense to have some premium aircraft require one system and other premium aircraft require another system.

Alliances and Challenges have both been mentioned by the devs as well, but since that’s mostly speculation and timelines for those features aren’t public, I’m going let the devs cook until more details are teased in a dev blog.

My #1 request for SP use is to Allow the Purchasing of Special Liveries. I tend to fly very few AI contracts, but keep all the specials from the passes. If I could purchase special liveries, I would do that early and often, and pay a premium. I’d love to have the Iceland Air Aurora, or the Ken Borek DHC6 gracing my skies daily. (I’d link to this suggestion in the Feature’s Requests Category but I can only find the purchase for GP link and that’s a big no from me!)

I like number 6 so I can visit more people instead of sending to NPC airports.

Thank you! I’ve started using the forum not so long ago, so I’ll keep learning!

What 6th point was trying to tell is that, you can send your fleet planes to any non-player destination, but you have a limit doing so in each destination, that can be bypassed with SP.

Is it posible that this 6th point was misunderstood?

No. You can also increase the planes sent to random players at playable airports using silver. I’d rather send 8 to LHR than 4 to LHR and 4 to LGW.

Is there a limit on sending planes to other players?!
