What is your suggestion?
making the local, regional, and international contract rolls more random
How would it work in the game?
instead of the current system where it picks a random destination, airline, then just picking the first unowned aircraft, it would also pick a random aircraft
Examples at LHR assuming no contracts are owned
current system:
CDG - British Airways - E170
AMS - British Airways - E170
DUB - British Airways - E170
Suggested system:
CDG - British Airways - A20N
AMS - British Airways - E170
DUB - British Airways - A321
Why is this a good idea?
it would allow for more variety when finding contracts as well as making each player’s experience even more unique instead of each player getting similar experiences with just different destinations
Yeah, Heathrow sucks for contracts. Keep getting e170s for local, random cargo airlines with 737s for regional and the international are 767 to random Indian/Chinese city or 3 times I’ve had a Virgin A35k for Miami Opa-Locka which is an executive airport and thus doesn’t have international flights . Adding to this though, Bari sucks too, keep getting Pakistani airlines A320s as my international contracts.
Great idea, would love to see it as well. Perhaps the smallest aircraft should have a higher chance than the larger ones, just because of realism (an airline doesn’t usually just launch flights with the largest aircraft they can) and progress speed, but the larger aircraft should still be seen in random contracts.
I think a lot of airlines already have higher chances of smaller planes just due to more variations of those (especially in local contracts). And many of the planes shown aren’t even used at that airport.
Exactly, but there should be at least a small chance for the larger ones too. The planes that aren’t used can be good for variability though, so I would keep that the way it is.
OK, let’s just take Virgin Australia to Darwin since I’m there.
F100 → A320 → B738 → B38M → B77W
Current: Get a bunch of F100s, A few A320s, hardly any B378, etc.
OP: 1/5 chance of getting a B77W
You: I think you’re saying lower the chances of 77W to like 1/10 or something. That might actually be more reasonable there, but I think in other cases it would still give too many smaller planes especially somewhere like LHR. Maybe the size odds should adjust by stands or something.
Well, kind of. The lower chances of widebodies on routes like this does make sense most of the time, also because those cost more to buy as map contracts so they shouldn’t be accessible too often. I also wouldn’t really differentiate between aircraft types within the same class, so there would be the same number of A320s and 737s in the case you suggested.
thats what im thinking. if all the previous ones are regionals, it did still pick the cheapest local. That doesnt look intentional tho to have all the embraers and airbuses be regional and boeings local
The contract generator still seems to be selecting smallest available plane, but as @DenisMartinek correctly points out, all the planes before the B738 are Regional for some reason, so the B738 is actually the smallest Local contract available.
