:vertical_traffic_light: Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
It’s a massive United hub for New Jersey and New York, the biggest on the East Coast for the airline. has diverse traffic, and adds realism to long-haul operations.

It would also make for a good introduction for Continental whose hub it was prior to the merger, plus could be an interesting introduction of mainline United blue tulip/battleship along with the blue rising to contrast to Continentals livery.

FedEx also has a huge hub there which would give a local cargo airline.

:airplane_departure: Major Airlines & Routes
United Airlines is the major legacy at the airport with Allegiant, JetBlue and Spirit being the major LCC/ULCC. FedEx is the major freight airline with UPS and Ameriflight having a presence. Continental used to be the big hub airline

Exceptionally busy airport, traffic volume would be fantastic to manage akin to La Guardia. Would have the New York skyline and New Jersey docks nearby, big cool control tower.

Control tower and terminals,

New York Skyline and terminal,

Vincent R. Casciano Bridge and Lehigh Valley Railroad Lift Bridge (I love a good bridge),

Could also include the Bayonne Bridge to the South East of the airport behind the docks,

Funny, I just watched this the other day:

I had a half typed out reply to you here but I also watched it whilst I was halfway through making the post haha. Based on the most recent oopsie really highlights the airports shortfalls. Would make it a much more interesting candidate though as it would be slow and cumbersome for players too which I feel makes it more challenging. If New York was to get an airport I think La Guardia would be top for me but this would be a semi-close second if we were to get Continental with it (Just so it’s not another United hub though ofc we can’t omit them).

I have two concerns with EWR:

  1. I feel like cumbersome for the sake of cumbersome isn’t a fun challenge. SXM is cumbersome because of the backtrack, but it creates a challenge we can overcome through effective runway management and management of pushbacks and queues. GRU is cumbersome because of the taxiway crossing of the runway, this is harder to avoid and it a lot of players don’t end up playing it after they finish, while SXM at least has its cult following. I’m worried something like Newark might be more in the latter category and I’m not sure thats a good thing when the Northeast US has so many other excellent airports such as BOS with a clearer application of how its challenge’s can be overcome with upcoming features such as runway selection.

  2. Newark also doesn’t have a unique regional airline headquartered here so it doesn’t have the uniqueness that an airport with DAC, Contour, Cape Air, Bering Air, Mokulele Air, etc would have, especially if Continental Air wasn’t added since its end of operations is right on the 2011 cutoff.

1 I don’t think its too cumbersome to be annoying, just enough to be exciting like with Boston. I think it’d be challenging, especially with the crossing runway.

2 I agree completely. Uniqueness in types and liveries is what keeps airports alive and played for a long time, unless you’re someone who like 500 monotoned aircraft of your own fleet lol. Would require the United Express fleet with the Dash’s and maybe the Beechcrafts added which would add more variety in types but that’s where it lacks compared to JFK. I still think LaGuardia is the best choice though lol.
