a21NY is a C-class GOAT. For passenger transport, an E-class aircraft like the a339 might be preferable over the D-class b757, which lacks maneuverability. Compared to other E-class aircraft, it consumes relatively low GP. If cargo transport is also considered, the a332f or b763f could be viable options, with b77lf being a possibility if budget allows.
If I was starting a new account today with your stated goal of long range planes, I’d start with the A21NY, and then go A359 or A35K, then backfill the other sizes pending the airports you enjoy playing the most.
Just for the sake of completionism though, these are the planes I would recommend from each size class (I know you specifically mentioned C and D, but I couldn’t resist writing this up):
B Planes:
F70 / E145 – these are the highest range B pax planes in the game, and net you extremely good route diversity as with a low capacity so you don’t run into drops in route diversity due to low demand destinations not being served. The E145 is more profitable while the F70 nets you about 13 or so more routes of diversity at longer ranges than the E145 can reach.
E175 – if you only care about player connections, this is an excellent balance of range, profitability, and quick runway exits. You’ll sacrifice some AI routes, but this will fly every player to player route currently in the game that a B plane will fly.
I’d stay away from the CRJX (as well as the CRJ7/9). While this does have extremely good range, at airports with backtracking (INN, CNN, SXM), these operate like C planes in terms of where they exit the runway which reduces their efficiency. This also has slightly less range than both the E175 and F70, but vastly more profit, which is the appeal.
C Planes:
A21NY – this is really the only option in this class. It’s the most profitable small - medium sized plane in the game, and has the best range of any B/C plane. This is also the only C plane that can do player connections from SYD. This plane’s effectiveness at all aspects of the game compared to other planes of its class (profitability, range, SP and XP grinding, and route diversity) makes it a god among men.
The A321F cargo plane has moderately okay range, but most B/C cargo is quite limited in the current system. I personally would focus on D+ cargo if range is a concern.
D Planes:
Unfortunately, the B752 has been outclassed by other aircraft. But if you like it… fly it. It will be more fun if you fly planes you like. I do recommend these for range:
B763 – this is my D plane of choice for long range pax. There’s a few routes it can’t do, mostly as a result of it having too much capacity, and for these the B762 will work, but the B762 struggles with profitability and is really a niche plane for route diversity min-maxing.
(Note: The B764 is one of the conventional recommendation for D planes, but because of its lower range, its routes are more profitably served by the A21NY, and so I don’t recommend it for most players).
MD11F - this D plane has the highest range while remaining profitable of any D cargo plane. The B762F has more range, but isn’t profitable at the extremes of the range. I’d go with the MD11F for profitability, and B762F for range min-maxing / maximum route diversity.
Some people will recommend to skip D planes. And in general, this will depend on which airports you like to play and what airports you want to send to. INN and CNN max out at D stands, so the MD11F / B763s / B762s will net you the most range to and from these airports. Not all airports have dedicated D stands though (a lot of airports only have D as part of E/F stands), so on a per stand basis E/F planes may be more efficient at those airports.
E Planes:
A359/K – These are the kings of range. The A35K has a slightly better range, but the lower capacity of the A359 opens up a few lower demand routes that the A35K doesn’t fly in game.
There are lots of other pax planes people recommend here: B77W, B744, A339, B789, etc… but they don’t have the extreme long range of the A350-series, so may be better suited for you later on as you try to optimize subsets of your ranges (should you desire to).
B77LF - this is really the standard for cargo. The A332F and other E cargo planes just don’t compete in terms of profitability nor open up new routes. The B744F is excellent for XP and SP grinding though its large cargo hold negatively impacts its route diversity.
F Planes:
When range is the game, the B748 runs ahead of the A388. It has a longer range, and is more profitable at the longest ranges. The A388 is more a short to mid range F plane.
I personally don’t fly the B748F for cargo. Its high capacity makes it have a low diversity of routes that I can send it on.
I know this is a lot of info, so if you have questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks for so much info dude
I am currently maxing out INN, that’s why I only asked for C-D planes, but so much info will be extremely helpful when I move onto bigger airports
