General Pre-Release Discussion

That would really piss me off ngl, i would much rather not get that airport at all in that case

I’ll be honest I scanned through your message above, missed that bit as I saw wall of text and it frightened me haha, been doing coursework all day and done too much typing and text. I completely understand your point, it’s just not what I believe and not what the devs had the intention of and what they’ve done is what they communicated, at least in how I read it.

Agreed, if it’s an airport which doesn’t need to be modelled perfectly and which would use up too many resources that could be better utilised on airports which more players want or which will open up a part of the world missing, then yes I’m happy for this to be the case.

But like its not even remotely close, so how can you even call it CNN. thats just crazy

yeah im fr not a fan of it ngl

You dont have to. That’s why the generic airport track is completely different from the regular one. Also they are super cheap and have limited rewards so you could skip on basically every generic airport and not miss a thing!

That’s the point of generic airport. They aren’t supposed to be seen as “normal ones”. Basically view them as a public testbed for new features and also a quick way to fill out the map for player connections. But not sure why everybody’s suddenly acting like we got this info yesterday. They told us this back in february and even showed us the layout back in may …

the thing is, they might do more and i fr dont wanna see a cool airport being represented by an airport model that looks nowhere close to what the airport its supposed to represent looks like

Because it looks similar to CNN in layout, 1 runway, stand, terminal and it gives players who want a South Indian or Keralan airport, an airport. It doesn’t mean that’s it for Southern India, no more airports. It just means they can focus on an airport people want more within India. If they built a massive international hub for the airport then I’d agree, just like if they built AMS as a one runway small terminal airport, I’d also agree with you. But for these it’s literally about ease of getting a smaller airport out that isn’t massively requested or is near to one already modelled. It means we get more, better detailed airports in the future, whilst keeping players happy who want an airport in a region.

the runway is literally the only thing the real CNN and the CNN we will get have in common

Nah but this is not even close. Like it’s just too far off. If it actually resembled cnn I would be fine with it but as it currently is laid out it is not enough to be able to label it as such.

Exactly!

Okay, but for real, have a good look at IRL CNN and the generic airport CNN. I don’t know if you’ve seen the 2D comparisons, but the similarities are insanely low. The one runway and its heading are correct that’s about it. The side they backtrack on? Wrong. Runway exits? Wrong. Taxi layout? Wrong. Terminal building? Wrong.

IRL CNN has two taxiways adjacent to the terminal? Non-existent. IRL CNN can fit up to E-size aircraft, but the generic CNN? D-size max. Like bro, I could go on. The fact they’re labeling this as CNN is just crazy it’s maybe, at most, 10% the same.

They’ve told us a long time ago that the most popular generic airports will be upgraded into real accurate ones. So if you want CNN to look realistic that badly than maybe play it a lot and they might consider it :slightly_smiling_face:

Like if im being honest, if this is the future of generic airports I dont want it at all. its not evenr emotely close to IRL CNN. even if it doesnt take much time to make these generic airports I would rather have them spend that little time on other stuff.

No, I think everyone expects it to be completely different from the normal airports. The issue is that we expect some resemblance to the actual airport in terms of the layout - no one here is expecting accurate models, textures and parking stands. What we have been told is that it will “not be 100% accurate” - that implies some remaining similarity between the airport model and the real life airport, and our standards have dropped to just that. Here we barely have any similarity with the only things being the singular runway and the singular terminal area. The bare minimum has not really been met here; that is because their method of “airport first, match later” is flawed and problematic, when they could’ve done “match first, airport later” to let the layout be roughly the same.

If they want an airport to testbed new features they should just make it a seperate airport with the code TES or GEN, place it somewhere like the arctic and not falsely label it as a real airport and possibly mislead people into getting it thinking it’s a real, accurate airport

No need to make it personal man …
Im just trying to say they’ve told us this info since a long time ago and there really is no point arguing about something that is basically set in stone. If you really have a problem take it out on them not me…

Because calling someone dumb over a game is just a little bit too far :pinching_hand:

I agree as well. The airport could stay and be given a fictional name. The new problem of where to place it does arise from that; at the start they maybe should have just spent some time to pick an airport similar to their operational requirement for a test airport, and then model the rough positions of taxiways based off that.

Hey that’s not called for. Personal insults are not tolerated here, even if they are on discord.
