General Pre-Release Discussion

I think Charlie did emphasize on that atleast in regard to the split handling feature that stuff like this tend to involve more work because it’s not just adding but completely re-writing the current coding to allow for these to even be possible, not to mention the bugs most of these features might bring

I do understand that some of those are being sidelined to focus on the 737 family but I think that wouldn’t be that hard to understand as this is going to be the biggest project (for now and in regard to aircraft that the devs need to work on bringing to life)

  • Split Handling for better realism
  • Multidirectional airport operation based on METAR data
  • Scheduling system optimization
  • Route balancing and extending in-game time to real life
  • Short-haul D/E/F routes
  • Revised cargo system

Stuff like that, just to game a few

A lot of liveries I care about too bud but asking about a particular one is a good way to not get it added and just annoy people. I can’t imagine not seeing it, it’s a currently operating livery which are the ones that normally get added in full. Just cool your engines a bit and enjoy the ride.

All of which are being worked on.

Multidirectional airport operation is already included with CNN, HKG (not yet available but implemented) and INN coming soon, as soon as more airports are remodelled, these will be included.

Split handling is expected for end of this year

Scheduling system will be gradually updated

Short-Haul D/E/F routes are being looking into

Cargo system is apparently also under development with the above mentioned planned for it’s release

so I would say they’re working on it, give the devs some space to breathe and work on them

Agreed. INN is the most excited I’ve been for an airport in a while. GRU / SCL / HKG are fine for different things, but I’m so over large airports.

In terms of features, while things like the split handling will be nice, the features I’ve been looking forward to the longest are the challenges / new event system and alliances. But… pretty much radio silence on those for YEARS since they were initially teased. Beyond that there’s things like the optimization of the scheduling system which I’ve just given up on as player planes end up causing more issues than benefit at the airport. Short haul routes for larger planes, improved cargo systems, etc are all nice but details have been sparse beyond “its coming”.

The community features though are to me a much bigger deal. I mostly keep playing this for the community, but the last year or so has seen me take extended breaks between airports and / or skip airports. The game just needs some refreshes!

To be quite fair, I agree with you for the most part and personally I feel too many things are on the drawing board and most haven’t seen the light of day but I gotta trust that the team know what they’re doing. I just hope I’m around long enough to see most of them but in the meantime, we gotta just enjoy the ride

Gosh do I love a shiny new plane though, MD’s would be adored by me. I can perfectly understand a lot of the players who have been veterans for years but I’m a newbie, just hit 1 year this week . New features are very welcome though, I’m happy no matter which way the game goes (After the MD’s are added though ofc :winking_face_with_tongue:).

So… I am reading this right now, and I will say something: I have many many future requests in my head, but to lazy to write that. I understand you want new gameplay functions, but the devs can’t make 5 UI throngs in one update. So we have probably 1-2. Instead of new functions, we’ll get some ‘shiny planes’ and some liveries. I really like them, and it’s something, that keeps things up. Yk, UI making is harder than some Liveries/remodels (I think?), new code, new layout, many players will be confused at first, that stuff ,yk? But for liveries, you just take a plane, make some colors on it, design them a bit (the devs are making that really good and professional, saw the 80th Anniversary of Cathay?) and there you go! Planes, you just take the old model, make a bit more ‘shiny’ and make the engines better.

Is this also the belugaXL?

I do recommend you tune into one of Charlie’s streams where he’s building the DC6 on discord. It’s a much more complex job than you might think to build a plane let alone to then make liveries. Lots of layers go into creating one.

Beyond that there’s also a ton of things that just don’t work anymore as the game has scaled and the problems just get worse as new planes are added:

  • The general economy structure makes at most a quarter of the planes relevant for optimizing your fleet. Most planes are vanity planes, which is fine – but so many of these planes are actually used in real life because they make sense. The economy system needs updated reward players more for making these fleet choices.
  • The contract system is useless for me to get contracts I want as it’s a random airline and then the smallest aircraft first from that destination. I don’t want to go B > Cs > D > E just to get a 787 contract for example. This system needs improved.
  • Event contracts provide almost no value to many of us who have been playing a long time. The SP is negligible, the XP is wasted most of the time, and the one and done nature of them doesn’t really liven up the airport when so many of these aren’t even unique or rare.

I’m not asking for all of this to be fixed tomorrow, or this year, or next year. But some consideration and communications about future directions and keeping systems relevant and fun and not a slog would be super helpful!

(Edit – this wasn’t intended to be a reply lol! My apologies).

Do we have a time frame of when this update may be released? Or is it too early to depict?

I don’t want to mess up another thread…

We don’t know, I’ll guess end of March or sth. later

Sounds like a very well layed out time frame:+1:

I cannot and will not publish any significant leaks before Kuba’s DevBlog goes live. That’s simply how we coordinate communication.

What I can explain is the development logic behind some recent decisions.

We introduced Cross-Platform Migration because it was urgently needed. Instead of spending time modeling aircraft like the L410 or other classic types, I was handling dozens of profile recovery incidents every single day. That is not sustainable.

The migration system was necessary infrastructure work. It reduces manual interventions, protects player progress, and frees development capacity in the long run.

At the same time, we are onboarding new team members to strengthen the airport development pipeline. Training them properly now allows us to increase production capacity later — especially for feature development.

Every step has a reason. Not everything is visible from the outside.

Based on the latest internal roadmap (which can still adjust slightly), the top priorities for 2026 currently are:

  1. Livery Customization
  2. New Handling & Cargo Services
  3. Alliances (long awaited)

Aircraft and airports will, of course, continue to be developed and redesigned alongside these priorities.

Development is a balance between infrastructure, content, and long-term stability. Some updates are visible immediately. Others are groundwork for what comes next.

More detailed information will come in the official DevBlog.

Any time frame of when the next devblog will drop?

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to say in my comment that I was saying these things needed to be done RIGHT NOW or anything like that, I was just answering your question along the lines of “what systems need to be implemented before we add new stuff?”

I apologize, I did not at all intend to come across as demanding or rude.

Based on the fact Charlie didn’t mention it in the post, likely not sure yet and it’s down to when Kuba is ready to release it. Remember what Take That said ‘Have a little Patience’ :winking_face_with_tongue:

Don’t worry, didn’t sound rude to me but it can be hard to interpret in messages. It’s why I’m a little psychotic with my emojis haha
