World of Airports currently have 3 currencies: Wollars, Golden Planes (GP) and Silver Planes (SP). Wollar is an airport-exclusive currency and can’t be sent between them. Golden Planes and Silver Planes, on the other hand, are account currencies, shared amongst all your airports, We’ll be talking about the last one, from now on, simply called SP.
- The Basics:
Besides airport level rewards, the main source of SP is succesfully finishing handling a contract. With AI contracts, that happens when you finish contract Tiers 1/1, 2/2, 3/3… 10/10:
The greater the Tier, up to Tier 10, the greater the amount of SP. While it may sound obvious, what I mean is that finishing a 10/10 contract takes 10 handlings, but it gives you MUCH more SP then handling 1/1 contracts 10 times (cancelling and getting them again). Lets look at INN airport, with Bolzano, Italy as destination. Austrian have a DH8D available there. Finishing Tier 1 requires 1 successful handling and gives you 1 SP. Finishing Tier 10 requires 10 successful handlings and gives you 87 SP. That’s 8.7 SP per handling at Tier 10, so, rule #1 on maximizing SP earnings:
Repeating the same contracts indefinetly is much more effective than getting a lot of new contracts and raising them from Tier 1 up (1/1, 2/2, etc).
- The Shortcut:
Player-to-player contracts already start at Tier 10 (0/10)! At the very beginning, you won’t have many (good) fleet planes yourself, but that’s not a problem: other people do! Go to the Connections page, find the airport you’re playing and let people know you’re open to receive connections, mentioning your In-game name or ID. Willing people will send you their fleet planes, and the contracts will all begin at 0/10. After 10 handlings, you’ll get a lot of SP (and XP) all at once! You can also join an Alliance for some long term help.
Etiquette tip: it’s alright not to renew a player contract after you finish 10/10, but it’s not cool to cancel it mid contract (example: 9/10). Neither you nor the player helping you will get SP, so try your best to finish them all 10/10.
- Even more SP!
Two other things determine how much SP you’ll get per contract: how far the route destination is, and the airplane model. Let’s have a look:
- Longer routes = more SP!
Lets take INN again as example: Bolzano, Italy (BZO) is it’s closest airport. Austrian’s DH8D, a B size airplane, will net you 87 SP at lvl 10. Now look at Antalya, Turkey (AYT). The same Austrian’s DH8D will net you 220 SP at lvl 10! The catch? The roundtrip flight to Bolzano is 11 minutes, while the one to Antalya will take 1h33 minutes. If you play nonstop for 1 hour a day, you might want shorter routes to keep you airport busy. If you play for 20 minutes 3 times a day, you might want the longest routes available to maximize SP, as the waiting time between flights won’t be a problem.
It’s also important to notice that XP (experience) earnings do not take distance into account. When starting a new airport, you’ll want as much XP as possible to level up faster, so shorter routes, although providing less SP, will speed things up so you can reach higher airport levels faster.
- Bigger planes = more SP!
Lets look at Antalya again: Austrian’s A321, a C plane aircraft, will net you 303 SP at lvl 10! Keep in mind bigger planes take longer to handle, and at INN, C and D planes also backtrack to take off, slowing down the airport pace.
- Bigger planes + longest routes = maximum SP!
Lets take a look at North America now. Baltimore, US, have an A21NX from Spirit. At lvl 10, you’ll get 689 SP! It does take 4h18min for it to be available again after take off, so balance short and long routes and airplane sizes according to your playstyle.
- Cargo > Pax
This one is simple: cargo nets more SP/XP then passenger (Pax). Not all airports have good cargo capabilities, but you should make use of it wherever available!
- How to earn a lot of SP, fast:
You need to land a lot of airplanes fast, handle them all simultaneously, get the longest distance contracts and biggest size airplanes available. And you won’t get any of that at INN.
IAD, NGO, MCT, LEJ, LHR, BKK and SCL are all great airports for farming SP, but it can be done (at a slower pace) at any airport. My advice for beginners? Keep evolving your starting airports, and focus on leveling them up until you get BRI>PRG>IAD for free. IAD is the first very big airport you get following the sequence, meaning, unlocking the next airport for free just by leveling up the current airport.
At IAD, you’ll soon get to the point you have lots of big airplanes from long distance contracts, and will eventually end up having more SP then you can ever spend! You may also pay 4 GP to early unlock SXM, get all the AT76 contracts you can, and repeat them nonstop until you reach the level to unlock LHR, another great airport for SP farming.
You can always buy GP (Golden Planes) with real life money to show the devs your appreciation to their work (I did!), and either use it to early unlock one of the big airports, or even to buy SP packs and skip the farming altogether!

- What are SP for:
SP is used for converting into GP, activating the ATC, buying contract capacity, activating temporary handling crew and buying new contracts. Let’s have a look at those uses:
- SP into GP:
The most important use free players have for SP is converting SP into GP. GP is the game’s premium currency, used to buy Premium Passes, unlock fleet plane models, buying fleet plane liveries and so on, and earning SP and converting them into GP is the way free to play players get to have everything people bought who GP with real-life money have (except that great feeling you contributed to the game development ).
You may convert 10,000 SP into 10 GP once every 7 days, and 1,500 SP into 1 GP every 24h. Mind you that the counter is not a daily/weekly counter, but rather a countdown that only starts the moment after conversion. After converting 1,500 SP 8:03 am, it’ll only be available again next day at 8:03 am. Converting 10,000 SP offers a better value, so it’s better to save your SPs for the 10,000 conversion until you can afford both simultaneously.
- Buying contract slots:
You may also use SP to increase the maximum number of contracts one airport may have. Prices are 1,000 SP for 1 extra contract capacity, and 2,500 for 3 extra contracts capacity, both with a 48h cooldown. Again, cooldown starts the moment you buy it.
- Temporary handling crew:
There are five options total, two of them available with SP: 5 extra handling crew available for 1 hour, with a 24h coowdown, and 3 extra handling crew available for 4 hours, with no coowdown.
- ATC
Stands for Air Traffic Control, or Tower. It automates landing (Approach), takeoff (Departure), stand allocation (Delivery) and pushback+runway crossing (Ground). The first 10 minutes are more expensive, varying from 35 SP (each) to 55 SP depending on the speed-up, totalling up to 220 SP for all 4, a very prohibit cost for beginners. Every next 10 minutes will cost and extra 20-40 SP, again, depending on the speed-up, up to 160 SP for all 4 simultaneously.
- Buying new contracts:
We get a new free local contract every hour. For 100 SP, you may speed up that timer and get an extra local contract instantly.
- Do I need to spend real life money to have enough SP?
Short answer is a big NO, not at all. I did end up buying stuff to recognize the devs work, as I believe they are doing an amazing job. That said, it’s entirely possible to play the game for free and have everything the game has to offer. Nothing is behind a paywall, not even the Airbus/Boeing Pack liveries at the WoaPedia. Contrary to common belief, they’re also event-only liveries, meaning everyone have access to them. For SP, all you need to do is keep playing 'till you get to the bigger airports, and in no time you’ll have more SP then you can ever spend!
Wish you all lots of fun during your journey though the World of Airports!
