HKG Widebody Domestic Routes?

I have a Question for the Developers because I am really enjoying this game and I have given myself a bit of a challenge in. setting up all airports as real as possible with IRL routes, ac types and flight numbers..

My question is: Why release an Airport in a region.. specifically a country that has a very large population that most airlines in the region use widebody aircraft for short haul flights.. but not include these widebodies when selecting the airlines that operate to and from these numerous domestic routes? Most airlines offer cat C only aircraft on routes that are exclusively widebody only.. eg. Cathay Pacific A330-300 on HKG-SHA route 3 times daily.. but the only option available is the A321neo.. is there a way the developers can adjust that category selection to include larger categories? This is especially the case for playable airports that are Hubs to airlines.. like Cathay Pacific is in HKG, and United at IAD, and LATAM at SCL & GRU that also have some short haul routes with cat D and E aircraft.

Apparently it’s not as simple. The devs have been trying to find a workaround to fix it, and I think that it was mentioned that it would be possible to get larger local planes at HKG, but something went wrong (I’m not sure what exactly, maybe someone else can add on to this) and it couldn’t be done. I think it’s still in the works but let’s give the devs some free time now for the holidays, I’m sure we’ll get it soon enough :slightly_smiling_face:

I think that issue was mentioned by people for times during the 2.0 era, when the new contract system came out and people weren’t able to buy domestic widebody contracts in Japan at NGO.

But that was not widely discussed by many, until BKK.

In BKK people found they weren’t be able to fly Thai widebodies to closer destinations, such as SIN, HKG.

Devs at that moment were aware of that issue but seems they didn’t put that into a very high priority, I remembered they noted that this isn’t a simple issue to solve like many may think. I assume this will come with a more complicated overhaul on the contract system, as they may trapped them into a big problem while they didn’t foresee such issue at the moment they were developing that system.

But yes since that moment more people realized that would be an issue if we have more airports in Asia. In many Asian countries, airports and air spaces are very congested and there are even some dedicated widebody planes for regional/domestic flights like ANA’s B773, and Cathay’s B773.

I think many people are confused because:

“At BKK we cannot have Thai’s B77W to HKG but can have Cathay’s B773 at BKK. But why we can access Thai’s B77W at HKG from BKK, while Cathay’s B773 is not available at BKK?”

So yeah this is an issue and we should give devs some time to fix this. Right now I am going to reserve those widebody slots to mainland China, instead of buying the A321neo option…

Edit - I have actually reserved a lot of slots after a quick check, thinking about where I should send the Cathay’s B773/A333. none of them are coming from nowhere, all should come with enough passengers to fill the plane on Cathay’s regional config.
B773: DLC, PEK, PKX, TSN, TAO, NKG, SHA, PVG, HGH, FOC, XMN, CAN (if really possible but happy to make it A333 to be more realistic), WUH, CKG, XIY
A333: SHE, TNA, WUX, NGB, WNZ, CSX, CGO, KMG, LHW
(So I will have 24 regional widebodies only to mainland China!)
And there are a lot of destinations in other regions nearby beyond mainland China: Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore. I think we should be able to have 40+ widebodies contracts if devs make a change!
