Airport Type & Size
London City Airport is a small-medium sized airport primarily focused at business traffic to the city of London and its financial district. The airport is built on an old dock and is very centrally located, being slightly east of Canary Wharf. Due to its small size, the airport only supports regional jets and smaller aircraft with the largest allowed aircraft being the E295, BCS1, and A318.The airports central location in London results in a particularly steep approach (5.5° instead of the regular 3°) being required making it a very unique airport requiring special certification for the aircrew. Despite its small size it still serves roughly 4 million passengers a year.
Runway Length 09/27 1508m
Why should this airport be added to World of Airports?
A very unique airport that is centrally located in London offering a nice view. I know we already have LHR so adding a second London airport is unlikely, but as far as small-to-medium airports go, this is a very unique one that I’d like to see.
