Lufthansa Italia was an Italian subsidiary for the Lufthansa Group, which was based at Milan–Malpensa Airport that operated to destinations in Europe. In July 2011, Lufthansa reported in a press release that it would stop all Lufthansa Italia operations by 29 October 2011 as it had been proven too difficult to operate the Italian-based operations economically, with the entire fleet subsequently being transferred back to Lufthansa.
