Mac App crash on start

Hi,

I ran into an issue yesterday when playing WoA on a Mac. I fixed it as well, so I’m posting this mostly in case someone else runs into the same issue and is googling for a fix.

It looks like the app will crash if it tries to restore windows after a crash. Which inevitably means it will be stuck in a forever loop of try to restore windows > crash > try to restore windows > Crash > etc etc.

to fix: hold SHIFT while launching the app, this stops it from trying to restore windows.

I tried this and it is still crashing on opening every time. The app still works on my M1 MacBook but not my new M3 Pro MacBook, any other thoughts?

2.4.0 has introduced a new crash on startup for me as well, and it doesn’t remain fixed. Any time the game is closed, it will crash on startup again.

Only way to fix that I’ve found this time is to delete the app’s preference files.

In the Finder, press CMD+SHIFT+G, and go to this folder: ~/library/containers

delete the world of airports folder in there.

This essentially resets the application, but as I said, it doesn’t stay fixed - you’ll have to do it every time you restart the game.

Also note that this resets any planes you’ve marked as favourites.

OMG Thank You so much it worked! I don’t mark any favorites so that’s ok with me.

I’ve narrowed it down even more - but it’s still required on every start:

The specific file that is causing an issue is located here:

~/library/containers/world of airports/data/Library/Application Support/GoogleMobileAds

there should be 2 files in there

  • Settings
  • storage

Delete the “settings” file.

This solution avoids it resetting the application entirely, so you keep your favourites

Thanks for the above comments, it is very helpful! I have created a shortcut, which is able to recreate the above action of deleting the files, without the need to navigate through all the complicated directories.

After updating to macOS 16.4.1, the game seems to be crashing shortly after loading any airport.

Unsure if related.

EDIT: Full app reset appears to have fixed whatever was crashing

delete all contents within ~/library/containers/world of airports/

I am having this issue also on my Iphone currently. Only seems to be possible to play for 30 seconds and then I get kicked out. IOS18

Well, deleting ALL app settings and resetting the app on Mac appears to have fixed it.

For iOS I imagine the only way to do it would be to uninstall and reinstall

Yea this worked.

NOT FIXED by 2.4.4 - solution still works.
