Why should this livery be added?
Malaysia Airlines historically operated the MD-11. The first MD-11 was introduced in 1994, with a total of six aircraft added to its fleet—three passenger variants and three freighters (operated by its subsidiary MASKargo). Malaysia Airlines primarily deployed these MD-11s on routes connecting East Asia, Hong Kong, the Asia-Pacific region, and Europe.
Interestingly, all these MD-11s were leased from World Airways rather than owned by the airline. As a result, the aircraft were registered in the United States, not Malaysia. Following the discontinuation of the MD-11 production and due to the high operating and maintenance costs associated with tri-engine aircraft, these planes were gradually phased out before the year 2000. Some were subsequently sub-leased to Garuda Indonesia, while the remaining units were returned to World Airways.
