Meta: release announcement thread?

Hi all,

There have been a number of “when will 3.x.x come?” threads, as well if seems like every “release notes” and “new liveries” post also becomes a variant of the same..

Today we learned from 3.2.0 New liveries - #112 by Charlie that it may take a little more time, no big deal, but it also means I’ll continue to see these posts for that same duration :laughing:.

So, I’m wondering if folks would be interested in a sort of “New Release Announcement” thread.. this would be unique in that:

  • Moderator would only approve posts for when a new release has actually landed on Android /IOS store
  • Folks can follow this thread and get email notification, so you know when it hits
  • In the event that a release is delayed or we do get more details on the timing of a release, like @Charlie did, that can be easily surfaced

Thoughts?

That sounds great! So the only content would be a notif for releases or for timing of future releases? (Delays, ‘we want to release by end of Q3’, etc)

Yes, exactly this. I’m thinking it could become the official source of truth, and as an announcement-only thread, we can follow a single link to know when 3.2.0, or 3.2.1 or 3.3.0 or 4.0.0 (let me dream!) comes without bouncing to new topics..

A side note on this: maybe it could also include content announcements like recaps of what Charlie has been saying recently? Or links to the dev blogs and dev chat recaps?
