Founded in December 1986, Avianova was an Italian regional airline and an Alitalia subsidiary founded in Sardinia, with its main hub at Rome Fiumicino Airport. The airline served as a feeder airline for Alitalia, offering routes to Milan Linate, Bologna, and other mainland cities. Whilst not including international services, though supplementary charter flights to European destinations were occasionally operated.The airline consisted of 24 aircraft, including turboprops like AT43s & AT72s and regional airliners like the Fokker 70s. In November 1996, Avianova would cease independent operations and renamed to Alitalia Team, Alitalia group’s low-cost subsidiary for domestic routes.
