I think this idea is still very relevant, and it would be great to see it implemented.
I believe many players would gladly spend their GP on an aircraft with a special livery for their game airport.
To be honest, about two years ago when I first downloaded the game, I thought special liveries would be included in contracts. But I quickly realized they are part of daily events.
As an option, it could be possible to buy special liveries for each airport that a player really wants to have. I think this would be a great idea.
It could work like this:
• Only liveries already unlocked in WOApedia could be purchased;
• Or all special liveries could be available for purchase, but they wouldn’t count in WOApedia — only liveries from daily events would.
As a follow-up, here’s a small example of what I would buy for one of my airports in the game:
I think it’d be great as an overhaul of the entire contract system, linked into Krankenwart’s post and my War and Peace novel I did on the bottom of it.
If contracts became a destination and airline only thing, you’d get your destination and then as you handle it you’d unlock new aircraft types will you hit 10/10 allowing you to unlock the special livery.
I’m envisaging a menu where you can select and deselect which aircraft types and liveries you’d want so you could just have the special, or you could have it mixed in with other types and special liveries.
Not sure how possible it would be but I think it’d really help for players not getting the liveries they don’t want and would make getting that E170/CRJ200 local contract less annoying as with a little bit of elbow grease, you could unlock the type you want and deselect the ones you don’t.
Agree completely with you about the purchasing of specials though it’d be limited to 1 per airport I presume whereas the above would allow specials to be run on all your routes with a certain airline making them more common at your airport, depending on what you’d like. More choice for the player lol.
This would just add such a different dimension, especially to larger airports like LHR. I’m big on BA at LHR but some unique liveries would help mix it up a little.
