[Other] - Detailed plane doors

:placard: Plane Doors:

  • Other – detailed and realistic aircraft door models and animations

:bullseye: What is your suggestion?
Introduce detailed and realistic aircraft door models and animations for all aircraft families in the game. Currently, aircraft doors are visually simplified or missing key details. Following the impressive improvements to landing gear accuracy, it’s time to focus on aircraft doors, which are a central visual feature during boarding, deboarding, catering, and cargo handling.

:hammer_and_wrench: How would it work in the game?
Each aircraft type would feature model-specific door designs and animations based on real-world references:

  • Airbus (e.g., A320, A330): Plug-type passenger doors that open outward and then slide parallel to the fuselage; cargo doors swing outward and upward.
  • Boeing (e.g., B737, B777): Passenger doors open inward and then rotate outward; cargo doors often feature upward or side-swing designs depending on model.
  • Embraer (E-Jets): Passenger doors are plug-type, with inward rotation and outward movement, often integrated with stairs on regional variants.
  • Bombardier CRJ: Doors typically open downward, forming integrated air stairs; rear service doors on some models swing to the side.

Doors would animate properly when boarding, cargo loading, catering, and maintenance operations begin. Cargo and service doors would also be included depending on ground service assignments.

:balance_scale: Why is this a good idea?
Increased realism: Door behavior and placement are unique to each aircraft and enhance immersion, especially during ground operations.\n- Visual feedback: It gives players better visual confirmation of ground service progression.\n- Consistency: This aligns with recent improvements in landing gear modeling and fits the ongoing goal of making aircraft look and feel more authentic. Community interest: Aircraft detail is a popular topic among players who enjoy realism and aviation accuracy. This update would further elevate the quality and visual appeal of World of Airports, making ground handling scenes more dynamic and authentic."

On top of this, a bit of colour within the door frame when opened to resemble the cabin as opposed to a hellish black void.
