What is your suggestion?
The current stand layout at IAD is inaccurate. The stand sizes, and in some places, their layout should be changed to the accurate layout and possible sizes for realism.
How would it work in the game?
The model and configuration for stands would be changed to match real life - most stands would simply allow you to unlock more or fewer sizes - some areas would need a small rework to change where stands are/add secondary stands.
Why is this a good idea?
The realism would vastly improve, and it would also improve gameplay! The option to use tens of E (and one F) stands in terminal C and D, plus the R stands, would greatly improve gameplay. The option in the remote stands and some others to trade out a E or other large gate for multiple smaller ones would also improve strategy.

Here is what IAD’s actual layout is - color is maximum size of aircraft can be in that gate:
I just hope devs can add some E and D stands to Terminal C and Terminal D, just like in reality, to serve United Airlines. Terminal B needs to add some C stands to accommodate narrow-body aircraft of other airlines. At the same time, the additional stands will provide sufficient handling crews.
Hi,
let me share my player’s perspective on this topic.
I’ve been playing this airport for six years, including as an alpha test player. I welcomed the recent update and modernization of the airport, even though at one point it meant my number of active A380s dropped from 20 to just 18 due to shared gates.
If we were to fully embrace your idea of absolute realism at IAD, it would only be possible to handle 3–4 A380s at a time. Even with the option to rebuild the gates, we’d be looking at a maximum of 6 or 7 A380 stands across the entire airport — and that’s not even counting cargo.
I fly exclusively with A380s, and if such a realistic restriction were implemented, this airport would become completely unplayable and boring for me. On the contrary, I’d actually welcome more landing options for aircraft of that size at Terminals C and D as well.
I understand your enthusiasm for hyperrealism in the game, but personally, I’d prefer progress and new features over restrictions or steps backward. So I wouldn’t welcome such a change with open arms — in fact, I might even abandon IAD, where I currently have nearly 260 contracts and around 200 active A380s flying in and out.
I’m sure you can understand my passion as a player for this airport.
I think this is a very good idea, as the commissioning of two additional RWYs in WOA hasn’t resulted in a significant increase in capacity compared to operating with two RWYs.
19L is barely used due to a lack of parking space in Terminal D. Increasing capacity, especially for D and E stands in Terminals C and D, would better utilize the underused RWYs 19L and 19R and significantly increase the airport’s capacity in general.
However, it would also be desirable not to reduce the number of stands for handling the A388. Real life or not, the existing F stands have an exorbitant impact on the game mechanics, as many players use IAD as their main hub due to its strategic location and size (capacity).
