What is your suggestion?
This suggestion is to optimize the feature without changing the core real-time METAR-driven runway change logic. The core pain point now is: real-world airports rarely adjust runways (sometimes not even once a day), which means most players can barely experience this new feature at all in the game. We want to fix this, so both realism lovers and casual players can enjoy this update.
How would it work in the game?
All built on the existing system, no rewrite needed, super simple:1. Keep the original “Pure Real-Time METAR Mode” fully unchanged: This is the current INN version, for players who want 1:1 real-world realism, no changes at all.
2. Add a new “METAR + Gameplay Enhanced Mode” (default for most players):
Base wind data still comes from real-time METAR, no made-up random data.
When real METAR wind changes are too small to trigger a runway switch, the system will add safe, reasonable simulated wind fluctuations within the airport’s safety rules, to trigger logical runway changes.
Guarantee players can experience at least 1-2 runway switches per real day, no more waiting a whole day with no change
3. Add a simple 2-option toggle in airport settings: Players can freely switch between the two modes, no forced rules.
Why is this a good idea?
1.Fully respects the team’s original design, no changes to the core real-time METAR logic.
2. Fixes the core pain point: Casual players can actually experience and enjoy this new feature, instead of waiting a whole day with no runway change.
3. Fits all players: Hardcore realism lovers keep the pure METAR mode, casual players get the fun of runway changes, no one is left out.
4. Extremely low development cost: All built on the existing system, no need to rebuild any core logic, just add a simple enhanced simulation layer.
5. Makes the feature shine for all airports when rolling out: No matter how often the real-world airport changes runways, players can always get the proper experience from this feature.
